roger56301: Love your videos. Helped me immensely
1A Auto Parts: The video you see if going to be the best step by step that we can offer.
Kris Burger: I have a problem with my '02 ford Taurus. Whenever I shift into a new gear
that applies or releases pressure, we always hear a big clunk kind of
noise. My step father and I have asked around and we have come to the
conclusion that it is either the CV joint, or Transmission Mount. Do you
agree with that conclusion? We're supposed to be looking at it this weekend.
Adam Adams: Hi Mike, I have seen this done on a different vehicle where the hub was
left hanging on the strut. Is that possible on this model of vehicle?
etchosts: You'll hear a click click when turning also.
parsons585: I just had both drive axles replaced by a shop that has a good reputation
but on acceleration there is a little vibration/shutter for just a few
moments until it gets to speed. For some reason their mechanic says he
can't feel it. I don't know if I'm getting the run around or not. What
could cause that? It's my wife's car and she noticed it first and I thought
she might be imagining something but I have to agree with her as I don't
remember that from earlier times I drove it before the work.
1A Auto Parts: @georgebenfield On our vehicle there was a washer and a 30MM nut that you
would need to put back on. This holds the axle to the hub. Hope this helps
1A Auto Parts: You may want to check the simple things like the tires are up to their
proper pressure, also check the sway bar links to see if they're worn out.
Hope this helps you out.
1A Auto Parts: @mikeunavailable It should come right apart as shown in the video.
Kao Vue: would taking off the strut at any point mess up the alignment?
tomcatdcn: could be control arm bushings
Larry Thornton: I can't get this to work for me. I get where the strut is still about 1
inch inside the knuckle, then it jumps back in to about two inches. I
bought a 4 lb hammer for this and I have beat the hell out of it.
26dolla: did u say the hub bolt is 100lbs torque? is this the same for a 03 corolla?
1A Auto Parts: We currently do not have an auto repair manual that shows you how to repair
this. If you have a Chiltons or a Haynes manual they may show you how to
David Seaver: @1aauto I actually figured it out a couple of days ago, and I was able to
get the old band onto the boot with it off of the transmission axle
housing, and then shimmying the boot onto the transmission axle housing.
Before I was trying to put the band on with the boot still on the trans.
1A Auto Parts: Thank you for checking out our auto repair videos on YouTube.
Germain Klassen: Is the process on this video similar to a 2005 ford focus?
lilpsycho213: Why you have less views than expertvillage suprises me! Your videos are
freaking 100x better than their's. All i have to say is... my new cv axle
works like a charm
sseeker21: Do I need to remove the full axle to replace just the CV joint? Or can I
replace this while the axle is still attached to the transmission?
Edward McCammon: thank you this really helped me to replace my drive axle
Jrcuzz: I'm a pretty big dude.if I'm doing this with a jack on the ground how hard
is it to remove the snap from the joint?
mossburg2010: I have a question I have a 2002 hyundai sonata 2.7l v6 with auto trans and
front wheel drive I have tried replacing the front drivers side cv half
shaft that I purchased from napa auto parts I found how to do it on
ehow.com but when I have installed the new half shaft my transmission locks
up how can I fix it? I have tried doing it about 8-10 times but the same
thing happend can you help?
soledeth: I have 2000 Denali how do you know when cv shaft is bad? Or drive shaft
bcuz in my car there's clicking noise every time I try to drive it so idk
if its drive shaft or cv?
lee-roy jenkins: the problem im having is that the innermost firm rubber boot ripped and i
the replacement boot they sold me is only the thin, plyable outer rubber
layer of the boot. HELP
Johngodoe133: Do the ball joint mess up when doing this work?
1A Auto Parts: @lexusfan100 Sometimes when your driving down the road you'll hear a
1A Auto Parts: You're welcome, have a great day.
1A Auto Parts: It depends on the hourly rate of the garage doing the work.
wangbungal: is this the same for the ford focus 2002 se? when you insert the axle
back, does it have a specific orientation to go back to the transaxle?
1A Auto Parts: It may be, you also may want to check all of your steering components to
see if they are worn and need to be replaced.
GSXbuickGNX: To whom this may concern, it is now three weeks later and I've made no
progress...why? Because I don't have a deep enough 30mm socket to take off
the wheel hub bolt...I called it!!! Pep Boys had one but it was for an
impact wrench...$36.00, NO...4 other place didn't have one, and Napa Auto
had one, for an impact wrench...$29.00...NO...
53prime: Not so easy on jack stands ;P This video was a great help, thanks guys!
Weirdnumbers: I enjoy watching your vids! Just wish i had proper equipment I think the
transmission in my 03 Taurus is going.. Every time i make a left turn.. the
transmission slips a little bit engine hits about 4000rpms then it catches
gabby f: give or take how much do you think it would cost to take it some where to
have it fix i have a 96 ford taurus
1A Auto Parts: @sseeker21 You would need to remove the axle from the transmission. Usually
it's easier to just replace the axle.
lexusfan100: what will be the symptoms if the front axle cv joint goes bad
Johngodoe133: If I tighent the front middle bolt to much what would happen when driving
1A Auto Parts: The tools needed for the Focus may be different. You may be able to apply
some of the basic procedures shown in this video to your Focus.
DoctorPfunk: I didn't realize it at the time, but one of my boot clamps popped off while
I was replacing my shocks last week. I figured it out when the CV joint
started clicking. Is it too late to just put a new boot clamp on it?
rovero: has anyone figured out why the strut still stays in about an inch with all
the bolts removed? control arm doesnt go low enough or is strut just too
ReadySetMoses: I have a 05 Ford Focus, do you think the instructions for this would be
comparable, any help would be much appreciated!
bluryang: I have a 2004 Escape and have to replace the alternator. To do that you
gotta take off the drive axle. I was scared of doing it and it's still
sitting in the driveway. But after watching this video, everything seems
similar and will try it tomorrow morn. Your videos are the best out there.
Wondering if you will do some Escape videos.
Stephen Boyd: I have a 97 mercury sable, I am currently trying to resolve a problem I
believe is stemming from a bad seal at the transmission which you point at
in this video. Is there a specialized tool necessary to do this?
GSXbuickGNX: Outstanding video. Very thorough nice camera angles and great descriptions.
This really makes changing the CV Joint seem sensible and straight
forward...until I try to do it tomorrow and end up spending stupid amounts
of time on really stupid road blocks during the installation. Thank you for
this video and great job.
1A Auto Parts: It would take quite a bit of force to cause anything to happen. 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts: You may be able to apply some of the basic steps taken in this video to
your application. We carry new CV axles for your 1989 Ford Taurus with free
shipping on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 Have a great day!
John Cook: @5:36 what else would i use ??? jk great tutorial thank you this job seems
on the easy side or maybe you just make it seem that way !!! s just changed
out two 215/60/16's by hand and my back is killing me lol
serchmarc: hi,i have a GM daewoo racer at my shop, and the inner part drive axel refuse
to pop out or come out from the tranny, you said use a pry bar but i saw (in
japanese cars) that is a snap ring holding the entire body of the inner
axel part, besides the end snap ring ,i dont want to pull it to hard and
screw something up,what you recommend?clean and inspect if there s a big
ring?if dont just pry the part out?cause thats what im gonna do,cause this
