1aauto: It would take quite a bit of force to cause anything to happen. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Johngodoe133: If I tighent the front middle bolt to much what would happen when driving
1aauto: They should be fine. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Johngodoe133: Do the ball joint mess up when doing this work?
1aauto: The video you see if going to be the best step by step that we can offer.
Adam Adams: Hi Mike,
I have seen this done on a different vehicle where the hub was left hanging on the strut. Is that possible on this model of vehicle?
lakecoastie: A++ Thank you very much. You are VERY correct, air tools would have made it easier. I still was able to finish the whole job jack-up to down in @ 55 min with a trans axle seal replacement too.
1aauto: I would check the brakes for a caliper hanging up and causing a vibration.
Dietrich Kaiser: So my friend and I did this last night without any major problems. I now feel at higher speeds a wobble in the gas pedal and the steering wheel. Nothing to grand but it's there. Is it alignment perhaps? Also I'm hearing a metal screeching sound. My friend said it's rust on the new rotors(did brakes a week ago) as once I recognized the CV joint going the car sat about a week in the rain... Is that normal?
ReadySetMoses: I have a 05 Ford Focus, do you think the instructions for this would be comparable, any help would be much appreciated!
1aauto: You may be able to apply some of the basic steps taken in this video to your application. We carry new CV axles for your 1989 Ford Taurus with free shipping on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393 Have a great day!
bhig1021: I have an 89 Ford Taurus is it simmilar or different to replace?
1aauto: It depends on the hourly rate of the garage doing the work.
gabby f: give or take how much do you think it would cost to take it some where to have it fix i have a 96 ford taurus
1aauto: Once you take the axle out it shouldn't be to bad.
Jrcuzz: Meant to say snap ring
Jrcuzz: I'm a pretty big dude.if I'm doing this with a jack on the ground how hard is it to remove the snap from the joint?
1aauto: Thanks for watching Freddy. Have a great day! 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
freddy kruger: @5:36 what else would i use ??? jk great tutorial thank you this job seems on the easy side or maybe you just make it seem that way !!! s just changed out two 215/60/16's by hand and my back is killing me lol
tomcatdcn: could be control arm bushings
1aauto: You may want to if it's pretty bad and you're unsure of what to look for.
Kris Burger: Would it be a good idea to also have it checked by a mechanic?
1aauto: It may be, you also may want to check all of your steering components to see if they are worn and need to be replaced.
Kris Burger: I have a problem with my '02 ford Taurus. Whenever I shift into a new gear that applies or releases pressure, we always hear a big clunk kind of noise. My step father and I have asked around and we have come to the conclusion that it is either the CV joint, or Transmission Mount. Do you agree with that conclusion? We're supposed to be looking at it this weekend.
Frank Valle: Awesome video thanks guys I'm replacing a tranny on a 05 Taurus and I couldn't get the axle out
1aauto: You may want to see if there's any movement in them by hand. If you crawl under the truck you'll get movement out of them when you tug on them if they're bad. We carry new CV axles on our website 1aauto.com
3ldgrande: I just got a used ford '04 F150 @ 80k on it, does that sound normal or not to far out of the realm to need a CV replacement, when i drive straight it doesn't do anything weird but if i turn left or right from a stop and give it gas it has a weird shake/rumble too it, then when i straighten it out again it goes away... Your professional opinion would be much appreciated :)
1aauto: Usually a bad CV joint will make a thumping sound when you drive down the road. You could grab the axle (while the car is on the ground) and see if you can move the axle at all. You may also want to check the wheel bearings. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
soledeth: I have 2000 Denali how do you know when cv shaft is bad? Or drive shaft bcuz in my car there's clicking noise every time I try to drive it so idk if its drive shaft or cv?
MrOutlawCat: I gotta get me a pry bar like his one but bigger. To pry out the transmission side of the shaft.
53prime: Not so easy on jack stands ;P This video was a great help, thanks guys!
lee-roy jenkins: the axle is still good. i caught it soon after it happened i just need that inner boot.
1aauto: The tools needed for the Focus may be different. You may be able to apply some of the basic procedures shown in this video to your Focus.
1aauto: If the axle goes bad because of the torn boot, you may need to replace the axle.
lee-roy jenkins: the problem im having is that the innermost firm rubber boot ripped and i the replacement boot they sold me is only the thin, plyable outer rubber layer of the boot. HELP
Germain Klassen: Is the process on this video similar to a 2005 ford focus?
1aauto: The dealer should be able to tell you what rear end came in the truck by running the VIN #
Basil Johnson: @1aauto.
I'm thinking of buying a Nissan Titan. And the ad says. Needs a rear end. Do I need to know the gear ratio? So I don't purchase the wrong one? Or are they all the same. The truck works great but not sure if it is worth the money if the cost of repair is to high.
Found a rearend a local salvage yard. But only sell in sections and not sure of the part needed. And the dealer don't have a clue of what is need took in on a trade.
1aauto: You could try Harborfreight com they migh have a cheaper socket for you. Hope this helps you out.
GSXbuickGNX: To whom this may concern, it is now three weeks later and I've made no progress...why? Because I don't have a deep enough 30mm socket to take off the wheel hub bolt...I called it!!! Pep Boys had one but it was for an impact wrench...$36.00, NO...4 other place didn't have one, and Napa Auto had one, for an impact wrench...$29.00...NO...
1aauto: You're welcome, have a great day.
Weirdnumbers: I enjoy watching your vids! Just wish i had proper equipment I think the transmission in my 03 Taurus is going.. Every time i make a left turn.. the transmission slips a little bit engine hits about 4000rpms then it catches
1aauto: You may want to verify that they gave you the correct axle for your application.
1aauto: Thank you for checking out our auto repair videos on YouTube.
GSXbuickGNX: Outstanding video. Very thorough nice camera angles and great descriptions. This really makes changing the CV Joint seem sensible and straight forward...until I try to do it tomorrow and end up spending stupid amounts of time on really stupid road blocks during the installation. Thank you for this video and great job.
mossburg2010: I have a question I have a 2002 hyundai sonata 2.7l v6 with auto trans and front wheel drive I have tried replacing the front drivers side cv half shaft that I purchased from napa auto parts I found how to do it on ehow.com but when I have installed the new half shaft my transmission locks up how can I fix it? I have tried doing it about 8-10 times but the same thing happend can you help?
1aauto: You may want to check the simple things like the tires are up to their proper pressure, also check the sway bar links to see if they're worn out. Hope this helps you out.
parsons585: I just had both drive axles replaced by a shop that has a good reputation but on acceleration there is a little vibration/shutter for just a few moments until it gets to speed. For some reason their mechanic says he can't feel it. I don't know if I'm getting the run around or not. What could cause that? It's my wife's car and she noticed it first and I thought she might be imagining something but I have to agree with her as I don't remember that from earlier times I drove it before the work.
1aauto: We currently do not have an auto repair manual that shows you how to repair this. If you have a Chiltons or a Haynes manual they may show you how to replace it.
1aauto: You can check it to see if it have play in it. Usually once they start to make noises you usually have to replace them.
