How To Remove And Clean Macbook Pro Keyboard Keys

What do you think about this video?

BaIISackPotato: myspacebarisnowbroken freakyou

sublyme29: i have a 2012 MBP and my keys definitely do not look the same. for example, my command key does not have that metal stuff underneath and but the tab keys do... be careful everyone this video does not go into good detail for all models.

Ez ra: i think all of us men know why we came to this video to clean out...

TheFunOfGaming: Still getting the sticky keys error :/

Danny Michel: wont spilling anything on your mac completely destroy it?

Anxhela Kaci: Thank you so much. I had three keys on my macbook pro that were very sticky, to the point where my space bar wouldn't even spring back up. I don't remember spilling anything on it but once I took out the keys, there was sticky residue so someone must have spilled something. Anyway now after completing your process, they are as good as new. Thanks a million :D

pinkskies21: be careful my shift key just snapped in half

Siren Hound: when he demonstrated the 5 key, I pressed 5 and missed half the video :P

Tony Zielinski: Any idea what it means when you clean the heck out of some keys, but they're inconsistently responsive to keypress? They work every time when I press hard, but it is unusable under normal usage. I did not have a spill, but I did find tons of dog hair tangled within the inner workings. Removing the hair and dust made the inner lever mechanism operate more smoothly, but they still failed to fully disengage to the resting position, almost as if they were bent, although they move very smoothly when manually manipulated. I will order a new top case if I don't hear any suggestions. Thanks!

perrslice: wow dude 35 minute video to clean macbook keyboard? REALLY african american. ?

Nio Seck1: Really helpful tutorial! My 3 is flowing smooth as butter again. Thanks!

Aruna L.: :-( just broke my `[` key. where i can order new white structure of the key showing at 4:42 ?

Alfie Liu: oh my god... you have no idea how many hours i have spent taking apart all my keys and cleaning them because of this video... but its worth it! thanks for the vid

Tarek Chatila: Hey man, nice tutorial! I was hoping you'd do the CAPS key. I spilled some rubbing alcohol onto the keyboard while cleaning the screen and the key just came off. I hooked the metal bar which is attached to the key into the slot but I can't get the plastic hooks onto the white plastic bit in the slot. Any tips?

Katie Noriega: This worked great!! I didn't do my space-bar because I was too afraid to break it..

Kristen Robinson: What really helped me, and I mean REALLY HELPED, was a pair of needle nose (think like pliers) to help pry and pull everything apart without ANY damage. helped remove the metal bars, the plastic prongs without pushing or pulling on them too much. cvs sells them for $2. I'd say worth it!

Colin A.: List of keys that are sticky but that I don't feel comfortable pulling off: - Backlight Up - Back song - Play/Pause - Skip - Mute - Volume Down - Volume Up - Eject - Delete - Plus/Equals - Hyphen/Underscore - 0 - 9 - 8 - Backslash - Right Bracket - Left Bracket - P - " Dear Sparkling Blackberry, I despise you Sincerely, freak you.

MInecraftMushrooms Duo: While removing the spacebar i paused the video several million times

Jonathan Medina: I tiny piece of baby carrot flew out of my mouth and got trapped underneath my "v" key while i was munching. I thought i would never get it out. Thanks to you i got it out. a comment and a thumbs up for that. Maybe you should stop placing fast food cups next to your computer to prevent any root beer spillage! lol

Javier Alegria: Like if you watched the video on your MBP while doing the procedure... ;)

Blake Bichsel: do a demo of how to do the delete button?

Noel Arellano: Thanks for posting this video. My vice principal's MacBook Air's spacebar was messed up because he spilled some kind of soda into his keyboard. There were no other videos or instructional materials on how to pop keys off the keyboard of a Mac laptop, but yours provided a "cautionary" step and a look underneath the keyboard. I was successfully able to clean the white scissor-like mechanism which got stuck up because of the goo from his soda.

Haley Brigger: I was having so much trouble fixing my sticky spacebar! Thanks so much for this video xD

Nishant Jain: thanks you so much. as i am typing this, my space key is working perfectly now, before watching the video "everythingiwrotelookedlikethis"... :)

Blackphantom28 /: Thanks you save my gaming life because it came out with everything else and if didn't know how to put it back in and my mum says its a sign that you should stop playing

HelloMyNameIsTomas: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS! i have to go through 9 months without having 2 keys and i couldnt show my parents so for one year i had to find a way to buy the keys off ebay and put it on :P but now im so happy i get to use my macbook again :)

ryanruth12: thankyou! this video helps me A LOT!

Marina Tseng: I accidentally spilled a little bit of monster on my mac and some keys got sticky. what I did instead of taking all the keys off is just pushing the key up a bit, just enough to slide a baby wipe under it, and tugging it from side to side to clean the bottom side of the key. it worked so.... yeah.

Rosa Sophia: Thank you, Tim! Great video. My cat spilled beer on my keyboard. (She has a drinking problem.) ;-)

Maria Gomez: Yes! Thank you for sharing! I had so much hair and dust in my spacebar!

LittleLegion: Rubbing alcohol is a lot safer.

jiaming lin: Root beer is code word for seman right? I have root beer all over mine too.

Deano Shepherd: Helpful video. Thank you. It would have been even more helpful, may I suggest, if you had inserted a brief close-up 'still' photo of the keyboard socket immediately after you had removed it, together with the reverse of each key, for us to study at our leisure. Obviously you could not help swinging the camera about as you removed each key and I did find it difficult to freeze frame at the closest, and clearest, frame I could find. But I think all praise and thanks for tearing down your own kit for our benefit. I can say this because, unlike Mr BallSack What'sisface, my spacebar just came off of its own accord. PS I have a photo of my broken spacebar key and socket toghther as an illustration of what I mean but I don't know how to append it here so that you may see it (assuming you want to of course).

sunshizzleyou: Thank you! That's all that needs to be said!

Mark Singer: You sir, are THE MAN! Very gracious of you to provide such extraordinarily patiently delivered details that helped me get my post coffee spill keyboard back to tip top condition. Truly fantastic advise. Thank you!

MikeTysonFan1011: Thanks a lot for the great video. You just saved me 300 $. I went to two repair shops, one of them authorised, both of them refused to clean my keyboard, and only offered me a new one at the cost of 300 $. I had spilled some soda on my laptop, so the keys got a bit sticky, but only a few of them, so I did´nt want to pay for a completely new keyboard. Hence I decided that I would have a go myself, as I had nothing to lose as I saw it. Even through it was a horrible experience pulling those caps off everything went great thanks to your video :)

Mykola Rozhok: Works equally well with sherry. Thanks Tim, made my day!

Asking Arizona: Thank you! I didn't spill anything on mine, thank god, but my keys were a bit stuff

jkulibert2: Thank-you so much for amking this video. This absolutely fixed my sticky spacebar problem.

StarTropicsKing .: Thank you so much!! My gf accidentally spilled my pop all over the top half of my laptop keyboard! I'm so glad that Apple manufactures the keyboard so tightly so it won't short out so easily. Once you explained how to take the keys off I figured it out from there. Keys still aren't perfect but they aren't sticky anymore!

chepar20: Hey! thanks for the video. I spilled a litter beer in my keyboard yesterday. Besides the cleaning, did you clean the internals? I dont have problems with the keyboard but im concerned about the water inside. I was just a bit of beer to the right side of my macbook 15 inch late 13. Do you think I should open it and clean it? Most of it went to the small holes next to the keyboard. Thanks for the advise!

ProMix-starý kanál !!: work in normal nootebooks ?

Vernon Mahoney: Thank you!

Kalowes David: thank you very much for showing how to clean!

Shona Creative: Thank you so much. I followed this video carefully and am now able to type this to you after cleaning all of my stuck (not just sticky) keys. Very appreciative :)

schrodinger' cat: Ohhh crap, i tried this, !!!! AND I BROKE MY KEYBOARD!! Damn. haha

Stockiiii: really helpful video! finally i was able to clean some keys :D

Jermaine Logan: I had a spill too and finally got fed up and followed your instructions. It feels like a brand new keyboard now!!!! Thank you so much!

LudwigerCK: I was having a few problems with my spacebar recently and thanks to your video I could clean it safely and very effectively! Thanks a lot for explaining very well, with as much details as possible to make sure we don't screw it all up! Very helpful!

Cody Gwartney: Thank you soo much this fixed my keyboard perfectly great video and very good instructions thank you

Vet: When I graduated High School, all I wanted to do was kick back and relax without having to do any homework. But I realized I have no money to do anything fun. So I went to a San Francisco Vet School to get trained to make money. But seeing your videos, I am gonna be an internet marketer on the side. Let me know if you have any tips. Thanks.
