HelloMyNameIsTomas: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU DO THIS! i have to go through 9 months without having 2
keys and i couldnt show my parents so for one year i had to find a way to
buy the keys off ebay and put it on :P but now im so happy i get to use my
macbook again :)
Aaron Loh: Thanks you save my gaming life because it came out with everything else and
if didn't know how to put it back in and my mum says its a sign that you
should stop playing
Zipo CZ: work in normal nootebooks ?
MikeTysonFan1011: Thanks a lot for the great video. You just saved me 300 $. I went to two
repair shops, one of them authorised, both of them refused to clean my
keyboard, and only offered me a new one at the cost of 300 $. I had spilled
some soda on my laptop, so the keys got a bit sticky, but only a few of
them, so I did´nt want to pay for a completely new keyboard. Hence I
decided that I would have a go myself, as I had nothing to lose as I saw
it. Even through it was a horrible experience pulling those caps off
everything went great thanks to your video :)
Shona Creative: Thank you so much. I followed this video carefully and am now able to type
this to you after cleaning all of my stuck (not just sticky) keys. Very
Deano Shepherd: Helpful video. Thank you.
It would have been even more helpful, may I suggest, if you had inserted a
brief close-up 'still' photo of the keyboard socket immediately after you
had removed it, together with the reverse of each key, for us to study at
Obviously you could not help swinging the camera about as you removed each
key and I did find it difficult to freeze frame at the closest, and
clearest, frame I could find. But I think all praise and thanks for
tearing down your own kit for our benefit.
I can say this because, unlike Mr BallSack What'sisface, my spacebar just
came off of its own accord.
PS I have a photo of my broken spacebar key and socket toghther as an
illustration of what I mean but I don't know how to append it here so that
you may see it (assuming you want to of course).
Cody Gwartney: Thank you soo much this fixed my keyboard perfectly great video and very
good instructions thank you
Kalowes David: thank you very much for showing how to clean!
chepar20: Hey! thanks for the video. I spilled a litter beer in my keyboard
yesterday. Besides the cleaning, did you clean the internals? I dont have
problems with the keyboard but im concerned about the water inside. I was
just a bit of beer to the right side of my macbook 15 inch late 13. Do you
think I should open it and clean it? Most of it went to the small holes
next to the keyboard. Thanks for the advise!
StarTropicsKing .: Thank you so much!! My gf accidentally spilled my pop all over the top
half of my laptop keyboard! I'm so glad that Apple manufactures the
keyboard so tightly so it won't short out so easily. Once you explained
how to take the keys off I figured it out from there. Keys still aren't
perfect but they aren't sticky anymore!
Chris N: how do you recommend separating the bracket underneath the key into its two
pieces to clean the hinges? preferable for the function keys
schrodinger' cat: Ohhh crap, i tried this, !!!! AND I BROKE MY KEYBOARD!! Damn. haha
The 115 Show: Thanks! You showed me how to remove the key with out breaking the groves or
the key itself.
Jermaine Logan: I had a spill too and finally got fed up and followed your instructions. It
feels like a brand new keyboard now!!!! Thank you so much!
LudwigerCK: I was having a few problems with my spacebar recently and thanks to your
video I could clean it safely and very effectively! Thanks a lot for
explaining very well, with as much details as possible to make sure we
don't screw it all up! Very helpful!

Cyrus Khalvati: all i needed to do is pop the button off and put back in lol
perrslice: wow dude 35 minute video to clean macbook keyboard? REALLY african american.
Tarek Chatila: Hey man, nice tutorial! I was hoping you'd do the CAPS key. I spilled some
rubbing alcohol onto the keyboard while cleaning the screen and the key
just came off. I hooked the metal bar which is attached to the key into the
slot but I can't get the plastic hooks onto the white plastic bit in the
slot. Any tips?
Chotu Marwah: Thank you this was very helpful
Arturo Solis: Thank you very much! I was able to open up the esc key and it was some sort
of small chip that was making the key not click. Thanks again :)

terrifying to do but u really helped! Great walkthrough! :)
Willow Argyris: Helped a lot with my rather crunchy arrow key. Thanks a bunch, it was very
helpful and took me like 5 minutes!
Chris N: Is there a way to disable the keyboard if I wanted to clean under my power
key? So as to clean and fiddle with it without it constantly turning my
comp on or off
Scott Thomas: Tim,
Great video - thanks for your help. I had a different model Macbook, but
effectively worked the same. I couldn't have done it without your video.

my keys and cleaning them because of this video...
but its worth it! thanks for the vid
Nick Rankin: How can I make sure that nothing got into the charging port so that I don't
plug it in and charge it and it doesn't fry? I spilt liquid on the left
hand side of my keyboard and cleaned the keys like you said. It worked
perfect! I'm just scared to charge it because I don't want anything to
happen! Thanks so much!
Devon Cayer: good video!
Scott McCord: Just did this with three keys on my mbp retina after an unfortunate
incident involving some orange juice. Worked great, thanks!
thesqueedler: Hi Tim, just wanted to thank you for the detailed description. I spilled
maple syrup on my keyboard, including the space bar, and I was able to get
it fixed. By the way for other viewers, I highly recommend using strong
reading glasses & good lighting for this work. Also a plastic "spudger" to
pry off the keys (you can get them at iFixit). I also used damp cotton
swabs and an old toothbrush - carefully -to help clean the parts and
