slimepig: while running yesterday with the air filter off, it slowly flooded out, so
im figurin the float needs replacing as well.
themaritimeman: Sadly, yes. Most of the older B&S engines (including yours) runs better
than most of the new ones i've seen. I know people (including myself) that
own newer tractors with B&S engines that parts are breaking on all the
time, but my aunt, who owns a 1981 IH Cub with an 11 HP Briggs, has never,
ever had a problem, except the starter burning out from using it so much!

adb140275: all you need is the gasket that goes between the carb and the tank. its
called the diaphragm

15 minutes of running it starts losing rpm's and will dye unless i choke
it. filter is clean. why would it do this after 15 minutes or so?

CHOPPERGIRL AIRWAR: I've come to the conclusion that carbeurators on these B&S small engines
are total crap.. difficult to tune, flakey, prone to clogging, and very
fuel inefficient. These things should be bulletproof rock solid and idiot
proof, and they are no where even in that ballpark. You spend more time
freaking around with your engine than actually using it.

running it with a loosened or removed gas cap, and try again.

adjustment screw on the carb only a black plastic cap that only turns 90
degrees each way. How can i adjust the carb on this engine?

misleading, and he leaves out a lot of important info. im not by any means
trying to be him. I'm SO SORRY that i give out helpful information!
