2 Cold Air Intake Mods: My Dodge Ram 5.9L & Durango 4.7L

What do you think about this video?

dodgeramkx250: which one is faster, the ram or durango? haha

RVR2: I agree with this!

Robert Verzola: As far as I see, it is suckin in lots of Hot engine air...Normally on a good intake system air needs to be comming in from cold source not right above a hot engine with a hood over it????????????? Im guesssing the perceived gain is from imagination>>???

mark kreft: u should but the transfer case and make it 4x4

RVR2: @thebeastful2012 Because there was no place on the air cleaner to run the valve cover hose and actually there is suction on that valve cover. The idea is to suck fumes out of the passenger side (PVC valve) which sucks clean air in the driver's side ... crossflow.

T.C. Coleman: Performance if better sucks way more air and faster throtle response I put the exact air breather on my 92 dodge Dakota 5.2 way better better then the cold air intake I had on it too best choice for air intake on the keg style magnums

Dylan Guillory: Thanx

956hitman: Hey man, i was just wondering what brand the dual intake was.

RVR2: @mobsterbillyjoe Oh, you meant the 'teeth' on the front grill?? I had flames at one time but changed to the teeth instead - I may go back to the flames..

RVR2: @313stratus I don't see why not with some modifications..

rhowell760: caould you pm me that link? thank you

FordF350Baby: maybe add the K&N filter instead of the stock filter?

RVR2: Thanks. Yeah I searched all over and the dual snorkel is made only for the V6 model and the 4.7L only.

meatcarpenter: i saw you put a filter on the right valve cover what did you hook the pvc valve to on the left side

313stratus: so my question is.. if the dakota has same engine like durango but also has a 5sp tranny.. which durango only on auto tranny.. can the 5sp dakota be swapped to the durango?

RVR2: @956hitman I found that on eBay. No real name brand.. Just do a search on eBay under 'Durango dual air intake' and it should come up.

IntenseBlue318: @IntenseBlue318 there's the link in case anyone else wants it too. just replace {DOT COM} with .com/

FordF350Baby: @ rvr2 Cool vid man:)

IntenseBlue318: @rvr2 the only thing is those aren't true cold air intakes, they're still pulling in hot air from the engine compartment. some guys over on dodge forum came up with a hombrew intake that sucks air from next to the radiator, outside of the engine compartment. I've put on my durango and now I get better mpg, more throttle response, and more power. The best part is it only cost $10 in materials to do. It won't let me post the link here but I can message it to you if you want

RVR2: @aaminjoshi91 I like that idea about the Ram Air hood.. That would look Sharp!

FERPITBULLS: Hi , I did replace My intake for and airĂ¡is sistem but I still cant. Find that litros filter on the rigor side , is and specific name for that little filter??

RVR2: @sethcorn Thanks! Sounds like a blast! We don't get a whole lot of snow but when we do, I have a GR8 Time!

IntenseBlue318: @IntenseBlue318 dodgeforum{DOT COM}forum/1st-gen-durango/207414-5-9l-5-2l-3-9l-and-4-7l-custom-ram-air-diy.html

VonLickTonStine: @rvr2 I did the same thing to my dodge 5.2 though and no engine temp difference but it did seem more responsive with more bottom end and it would cruise at 70 probably 250rpm less than is use to

RVR2: yes, the oil cap on the valve cover (not the pcv valve)

RVR2: @FordF350Baby Definitely!

IntenseBlue318: @rvr2 all 5.2Ls from 92 & up are multiport fuel injected as are all 3.9Ls and 5.9Ls from 93 and up

Jhony Lopez: No check engine light?

B4NDiT: @2012chevyman i have a 2001 Durango, the 5.9 are MPFI; straight to the cyl. Only air comes through the throttle body

RVR2: @mobsterbillyjoe Oh Yeah! That Would look Cool! Thanks!

Shane Staie: I'v actually always wanted to do this to my 1994 Ram Sport with the same mopar performance one its about time someone did it, and the dual snorkel on that durango is sweet!

RVR2: Well it looks better than the stock one and performance is definitely better so it works for me..

coolkid92003: @rvr2 You want hot air in a musce car to a certain degree unless you have aluminum heads that's when u would want the car to run cold as ice but a regular old built 350 love heat. LOVES IT

RVR2: @FordF350Baby Thanks!

RVR2: It is still hooked up to the side of the intake. I never modified that.

aaminjoshi91: @rvr2 it would look really sharp. it would give it that off road sports car type look you know? A cross between street/strip and the off road. I'd like to buy one when i get some money then do a dual air intake like your's!

moonwalk5: Im planning on doing the same thing to my 99 5.9, im jus wondering what exactly is that filter called that fits in the top pan, cant seem to find it?

Tyler Auer: And I'm assuming you replaced the gasket because it was burning oil problem?

RVR2: @IntenseBlue318 Yeah that would be fine. PM me the link. Thanks!

RVR2: Cool Thanks! The circular air filter on the 5.9L fits better with a shorter K&N circular air filter so it's not so cramped.. I used the stock white air filter provided till it needed replaced then ordered the K&N. Yeah the dual air intake on the Durango works great as well as it looks.

badgramps: @IntenseBlue318 send me a link as well if you would please.. thanks

RVR2: Agreed! I have since replaced that white circular filter on my 5.9L with a 12 1/2" diameter K&N circular air filter and it was actually 3/4" shorter in height which now keeps it from being cramped atop the engine like it was.

RVR2: @2012chevyman My 5.9L is TBI

RVR2: hmm.. yeah no telling what that could be

jon o: How is a filter sitting in the engine bay over the engine like that a COLD AIR intake.. morel ike hot air intake... Your stock box was more cold then those lol

Tyler Auer: I assume by cap your referring to oil cap and test it out while its running

Tyler Auer: How many miles do you have on your ram, and have you ever had to replace the plenum pan gasket? i believe mine needs replacing it does consume a little oil but only minor its at the add point but be time it gets to that point its in need of an oil change anyway. Having problems sometimes when i start up on a cold engine it sounds like there is a huge suction noise coming from somewhere by the factory air cleaner box until the engine gets warmed up then goes away

the32honda: You guys would be surprised.... Take it to a dyno both ways, that's the only true way of knowing.

RVR2: Only 109000. Had to replace the plenum gasket back in 04.. Cost over $600 to fix. If you remove the cap on the valve cover and put your hand over the opening and it sucks your hand to the opening, your plenum gasket is bad.

Jhony Lopez: Sweet, I want one foor every V8 possible.
