Danny B: thanks for this. However, an ordinary wire wont be so effective. You need
to use a pretty stiff material to push the lock. I used the smallest allen
wrench(heat treated steel) and filed a taper at the end.
David Bello: Thank you for this. Used it on my '81 300SD (different dashboard but sane
tumbler) and removed the tumbler in a minute!
hannief syahiran: Great. Very clear explaination. My steering is locked , can't turn the key
in 2 position. Been trying to wiggle the steering wheel and try to turn the
key to unlock the steering lock. Any idea how to solve it? Thanks
Bart Roelandt: Hello.
Nice to watch this movie but... i do have another type of steerling lock on
my W123 (79). I don't have the space to use a paperclip. Somebody ?
Will. B: Thank you! Very clear and easy to follow. Great video, Thumbs up!!!
355LTM: what a wonderful steps a mother freaker ruin change the key barrel and
damage it the light alarm and works when i turn on the lights
Owe Ostrem: Very nice film. A year ago I had the same problem at two W124 at the same
time. Reason is probably that because we had two more or less identical
cars, we sometimes used wrong key..:-). The first I tried to drill out, no
success (still driving without key). Second I deliverd to a mercedes
repair, success but costly.
Brendon Wright: @solstingr WOW! It's awesome that you know that!
John Hill: Thanks for that. I'm just about to remove the barrel on my 1986 500 SEC.
You have saved me some heartache. Cheers. John. Now to find some wire!
Cameron Hartshorn: @solstingr Your steeling wheel lock seized.
Sirrom0206: I have a Chrysler crossfire. It uses the same Mercedes system. I ordered a
new tumbler and maintenance key from the dealer (i didn't see your video
until after ordering). I forgot to insert the blk cap between the key &
tumbler BEFORE reinstalling the tumbler back into the lock assembly. Even
though the blk cap is not on, I cannot get the tumbler back out. The key
will not turn because the blk cap is not on the locking assembly. How do I
get the tumbler out?
Tony Palackal: Thanks! This was a great help.
Jameson Childress: I have ordered the switch, but I can't get mine to turn on my 91 300D 2.5.
What should I do?
rickinnev: excellent,,thanks, I just about wasted $34.95 plus $7.50 shipping for some
Tool when this will do the job perfectly..
abraxas941: thanks for this video..... Couldn't start my 240d. I knew it was a "key
problem". I didn't know how to take it out..... I took it out (used a
"biggish" needle) and found that it is broken inside. Going to order a new
one. Problem solved Thanks mate
probleme. Qlq"un pour m"aider
Thomas Stanley: @Ostreom yeah. i don't know how they got just the cylinder out, but they
did (so i didn't have to replace the whole assembly). i think the purpose
of this video is ONLY if your key is broken and the cylinder still turns.
seems like you should be able to drill the whole thing out, and just put a
new one yourself though.
lowroader: Thanks, very very helpful.
LITWIK: thank's for movie. Year ago In my w124 I drilled in the ignition..
bobo Bogdan: thanks man. Now i go to try this in my Mercedes Sprinter 2010 year. ty again
pat1981lux: Now i know how to steal a Mercedes
Drew Michael: thank you! hope this works on a 1992 300d! Just as of today it locks up and
wont turn unless I fight with the steering wheel and the key at the same
time! I know this is common, not sure if changing ignition will fix it or
boyuchuadaniel: i think prople should make videos on how to steal a car made in 2011
rockblockcity: GREAT MUSIC ON THE RADIO!!! DEAD KENNEDYS, HALLOWEEN........
Brendon Wright: @gsa88 Wow, good eye.
IraHayesIraHayes: @solstingr Try rocking the car while turning the key and moving the
Thomas Stanley: this would be super helpful, but my problem is : the ignition won't go to
ACC. the steering wheel is locked and so is the ignition. (they seem to be
connected somehow, as when i move the st. wheel the ignition body also
moves slightly.) i almost broke my only key, but was able to get copies,
still no luck.
Char Noonan: @Ostreom I have this same issue now. What was your result? I was hoping to
get the key out and use the alternate. Help!
Owe Ostrem: @solstingr hi. How did you manage to fix ? My key is broken with a part
stuck in the hole, and it's not possible to to turn the to ACC or start.
But for some reason I can turn the outer part of the tumbler so I manage to
slide in a pin in the small hole. But it's not possible to screw off the
black part and release the tumbler...
bigpappa99ify: Nice thNks
Owe Ostrem: @solstingr ok thank you. It seems that I have to do the same. I have
drilled out more or less the whole cylinder, but the remainong part of
cylinder is still stuck. But now I can start the engine with a screwdriver
and drive the car to the garage :)
Shuswap26: You are the effin MAN! Thank you for posting this!
mjname: Man is that easy if you know what to do!!! Thanks for your time and
knowledge making this video!!! VERY HELPFUL!
Thomas Stanley: is that the Dead Kennedys? it is! nice.
legodudec: Great video it was a huge help!!!!!!! Thanks so much for posting!! It
really saved me a lot of time trying to figure this problem out!
jose rafitotoncobich: hola...eso tambien sevira para la splinter??
Zakarya Saleh: Thank you very much
MercMad West Australian: drill is the only option
JoeJoeyJose: Stumbled upon this video and my key isn't even broken. Interesting stuff
though, I love how easy things were to fix back then. I have a semi-new SLK
and any little light comes on and I have to take it to a special Mechanic
and all that. On my 300D however, I was able to fix a vacuum leak with a
freaking thorn from a tree xD
Taleh Babirov: Usta necesen
Tony Fernandez: Hi my problem is with out the key?
VAJOWLES: Very helpfull vid, WAYYYYYYYY better than a hanes manual!!!!
Thomas Stanley: @Ostreom i took it to the mercedes dealership. the cylinder was seized. all
better now. just thought i might be able to do it myself. seems the German
trained technicians are better than me. lol. cheers!
creativecarcontrol: Thanks you saved my flat screwdriver and hammer some work !! thanks for help
Gabriel Ataíde: Radio Sony XPlod... :-)
Gisbert Wollmann: da erzählst du aber was ganz neues!
Thomas Stanley: fixed now. thanks for what you did show. (mental note.)
bmw850i1: hey men your car is ugly as crap...get a 1999 BMW 540i e39 just like
