have to pull distributor. If u pull it u better mark it

yz100f: quick question what could cause a 99 s-10 4.3 x vin to stall 15 min after
startup like starved for gas but then restart and its fine for another 15
min wether its hot or cold it acts the same and its getting worse tho it is

james belbin: I have a 96 Gmc sonoma v-6 vortex 4.3L, it has a misfiring problem
speficially P0300 random misfiring. It is a , It was was running rough for
a well and Today i went to check the wires and plugs, the wires and the
plugs are good(reset the gap). i did each one a time and when i was done
with cylenders 2,4,6 i fired the engine up and it was running rougher than
it was before, and the check engine light flashes. Would replacing the cap
and rotor stop the random misfire codes. no other codes read?

no wear at all. But The motor runs better but still struggles and backfire
but not as bad now. it kind of solved it half way. but still has that
struggling and a small backfire. but not as bad as before. I'm Lost now any

and give it gas. The Engine Does not want to go and struggle to get going

1A Auto Parts: @ramaffei I generally replace the rotor when I replace the cap. One way to
tell if you need wires is to run your car in the dark and see if you see
any arcing or sparks jumping from the wires to the engine. Otherwise
replacing plug wires at 100K miles is a good idea, 50K if you are really

1A Auto Parts: It would more than likely make the vehicle run rough more than anything.
1A Auto Parts: You will want to mark the position of it, so that the timing is correct
when you place it back in.
paulsinnkc: @joshuaforth try the map sensor...........its going to get worse, mine even
went so far as the sevice engine soon light would flash and truck would
bogg down,and id be going thru gas like 2miles to the gallon.
1A Auto Parts: @yz100f You may also want to make sure that the catalytic convertor isn't
clogged under the car.

to have the code pulled, it should point you in a direction as to what

mmaforlifenhtown: Do not over tighten the screws on the distributor they strip out easy. I
messed up by using a socket wrench to tighten them should have used a
driver. snug tight is good

Prince Noah: As easy as that looked, mine was not that simple. The whole distributor had
to be replaced because it's bearing went bad. When I started it up, it
sounded like a swarm of bees was under the hood. When I turned it with my
fingers, it sounded like a duck. Cost me $530 to have it replaced.
1A Auto Parts: @yz100f If you have haven't tuned the truck up in a while, you may also
want to change the spark plugs,wires, cap and rotor. This may also get you
truck running smoother if any of these things are worn.
joecoolmustang: Thanks I'm going try to check it tomorrow, It did crank for me today but
now it's missing firing and the check engine light blinks a little then
stays on for a min then blinks again.
DatBadWun: Very nice video. I have a 96 blazer and im having hesitation when i crank
up, sometimes it acts like it doesnt want to crank at all i was told it may
be the cap and rotor, told it may be the MAF, fuel pump kicks on, dont have
any hesitation accelerating only when i start up. what could it be?
yz100f: @1aauto yea i saw the plugs arccing abit but i really think its the coil or
my f pump is over heating when i fill it up above half tank it stalls less
ive yet to fill it all the way up but my suck tube problly ctacked was -15
c the last couple days so maibe that ?
1A Auto Parts: They're pretty inexpensive, you're better off just replacing it.
1A Auto Parts: @TheChev98 If you haven't yet, you may want to change the fuel filter if it
hasn't been changed in a while. There could be something in it constricting
the gas flow to the carb.

to spark out? And also I have 98 s10 4.3L vortex cranking but not start up
unless i spray carb spray on carb. I also can hear the fuel pump hissing
when ignition turn. Any suggestion what to look for fail parts? thanks
1A Auto Parts: @yz100f You may want to check the EGR valve to see if it needs to be
replaced. If it tends to jump or lurch forward while at stop, this is also
a sign of a faulty EGR valve. Hope this helps.

1A Auto Parts: @djgarcia95 It may resolve the issue.Sometimes it could also be a bad spark

s10 Xtreme pick up 4.3L V6?! I have coolant leaking on the intake manifold
which i belive the gasket is worn out. what kind of gasket replacement did
you use? what is the best replacement, a metal gasket, the stock gasket, or
an aftermarket gasket?
ramaffei: Question: my '00 Blazer turns over but doesn't start in damp/rainy
conditions...especially if cold. It's baffled several LA mechanics. But
some friends mentioned changing the D. Cap as it may have a crack. Would
you recommend changing the rotor too?...and wires?? Or can I start with cap

1A Auto Parts: @MrMacrun You can replace the coil while the cap is off. The distributor
doesn't need to be removed.

paulsinnkc: i took it a little furtherand removed the shaft that goes to the cam ,gear
at the bottom , the teeth were really thin.and now after it got put back
togetrher ,it wont start..any suggestions

1A Auto Parts: @FxOxC Those P03XX are headaches. I had the same problem on a 93 Blazer.
Turned out to be a bad computer. But that was just my vehicle. I have seen
it be simple stuff like a bad distributor cap, to a bad computer, could be
a fuel pressure regulator (although probaly not if you car runs OK even for
a little bit) . I wish I could be of more help but like I said that trouble
code is trouble.
