Jeremy Phan: ... "any bootloader"
Read the description.
CroatianExTc: Hmm., I was able to root my phone but my bootloader is locked by default by carrier.., And can't unlock it., So., that thing said,. Is there any way to flash custom rom without unlocking bootloader?
Jeremy Phan: 1. USB debugging is not required for flashing.
2. Update Service or FlashTool. Flash it.
Ioan Alexandru: I have an Arc that has ICS and it restarts frequently.I can't check the USB debugging because of the restarts so how can I downgrade back to Gingerbread?
Jeremy Phan: ... follow the instructions in the video and/or description.
David Alexic: so on my phone it says that the bootloader unlock is allowed, what should i do to root?
Jeremy Phan: ... then obviously recovery wasn't installed properly. Do it again. Or use another tool.
Utsav Tamrakar: Hey bro i rooted the phone and installed recovery just as you said, but when i reboot the phone it wont open up the recovery panel even after pressing the back button.help.
Utsav Tamrakar: Ok leave that question, tell me what firmware do I have to install for any custom ROMS of jelly bean? Coz I don't really have a concept of firmwares.plz care to explain. :-)
Utsav Tamrakar: Hey bro, to install recover x as you mentioned above, I have to root my phone first? Or can I do it now.
Jeremy Phan: ... FlashTool. Start over. Or recovery & restore...
xiao95: owh.. i see..even though i had rooted my Arc S and install recovery after i install the rom ( XU 5) then i switch on my phone it will stuck at Sony Logo (Freeze) any solution for that?
Jeremy Phan: Basically, you need recovery, which requires root, for which there are many different paths. Pick one.
Jeremy Phan: ... use the FlashTool. Follow the video.
terence Cesa: Thanks :) such a great help
xiao95: So basically need to flash kernel so that can change the rom?
CAMarcelino4: thank you :)
Manly Csma: My arc s Bootloader unlock allowed : Yes what i have to do to get android 4.0.4 ? help please i try with pc companion but it says that is updated
Jeremy Phan: 587 firmware, 431 kernel downgrade, 487 kernel upgrade. They should be on my mirror.
Jeremy Phan: No. And there are mirrors. androidstuff.
bis032: The site with the right firmware is back. So the problem is solved. Thanks again.
bis032: Hello Jeremy.
Your guide is fantastic! Detailed and clear.Thank you very much.
Just one question: I cannot download the 587 firmware for LT15a. I cannot find it. Only for LT15i.The link to it in the xda-developers forum is broken. Is there any difference between them? I'm afraid that it will not match.
CAMarcelino4: I'm sory too ask you such a dumb question, but can you tell me which 3 files are used in the flashtool for the arc S? because (if i understand it right) the generic versions are only for arc and not arc S, and in the other xda forum post half of the links don't work (for me).
Bình Dương Đỗ: I back GB after feed bad with ICS & JB :))
Jeremy Phan: ... doh. Must be working on it.
terence Cesa: sorry the flash tool link in the description says 404 There isn't a GitHub Page here.
Jeremy Phan: ... watch the video. Follow the instructions.
sahli adam: i have arc s and he says Bootloader unlock allowed: no how can i root it and instal cwm plz help !!
Jeremy Phan: ... what?
Repair with Update Service.
Explakajerk zoinkks: i've interupted the flash like what you've did and now it wont even connect to the flash! HELP!
Jeremy Phan: Is the phone recognized by the FlashTool? Are the drivers installed? Check Device Manager.
Plugging in the phone with USB Debugging should show up in FlashTool as well as Device Manager.
Cyril Zheng: Hey Jeremy, after I flashed the firmware, checked USB bugging and Unknown sources, I tried flashing the insecure kernel but this pops up "For flashtool, Unknown Sources and Debugging must be checked in phone settings"
What do you think the problem is?
Jeremy Phan: So start over... when you flashed, it probably erased recovery and root.
Flash it again with the FTF and start over.
Jeremy Phan: If the ROM reboots, it wasn't installed properly. Either the base firmware wasn't flashed properly, the wrong recovery was used, the wrong ROM was used, the kernel is incorrect... or a dozen other possibilities.
I don't have a Miro. Go to the Miro forums.
Sai Surya: i did everthing as u said and it worked until installing the recovery, then when i tried to flash pacman rom, it just said couldn't install and then i rebooted the phone. and here where the problem arises, there is no "superuser" app and the recovery is not opening, even if i keep pressing the back button it is skipping to the xperia logo and the device is starting as normal. now i tried to flash superuser again by the cmd method and it isnt working and the phone has struck at generic lt15a kern
DaniOL: Really ?
I tried everything..
I follow all the step..
Can you help me ?
Jeremy Phan: Most likely it's a function of the ROM. There's also settings under Mobile Networks to search for a provider. If the phone is explicitly registering to Rogers instead of Fido, it'll continue to happen. You need to also confirm if the SIM is setup properly (by testing it in another phone). If it's a ROM issue, you'll have to flash a generic or revert back to a stock Fido ROM.
GerbiGerbilLok: The phone isn't roaming because the network it's connected to is Fido. However, I want to know how to get the phone not think it's roaming. It's registered on Fido, yet the bars still display the roaming "R" on top and every 10 seconds there's a message saying roaming data disabled.
Jeremy Phan: ROM wasn't installed properly. Follow it's instructions.
DaniOL: Hey there Jeremy Phan ,
I have this problem ..
My xperia miro keep on random reboot when I install a new Rom ..
Why is that happening to my miro ?
It reboot into Sony Logo ..
Jeremy Phan: All the steps are the same. Root, recovery, custom ROM.
Make sure you visit the SK17i forums for any specific files (such as recovery) for your model.
Jeremy Phan: It can't roam if there are no international networks to connect to so unless you're living close to the border, it's a moot point. It doesn't matter what it displays.
Jeremy Phan: Already posted, weeks ago. Visit the channel.
/watch?v=as8kSzThbSw READ the description.
Sandeep Singh: hey Jeremy, I wanted to ask u something the procedure to install jelly sandwich in this video could be used for xperia mini pro sk17i also if yes, then plz give me some instructions so that I could upgrade it thnx
GerbiGerbilLok: Hey Jeremy, I'm using a rogers branded arc too and i noticed that after I installed the generic rom, rooted, and installed a custom firmware, my data thing always says roaming. Was wondering if you get the same thing cause I'm scared of using before I get roaming charges. I have a fido sim and before rooting, it always said either 4G or 3G.
mangse satu: Please make video root for xperia j. :)
Jeremy Phan: ... why. They work for everyone else.
zoroark1996: the removed them
Jeremy Phan: Verify that recovery is setup properly.
Holiday: We don\t make alot, but our group do get to travel frequently. Just this year we went to Bangkok to get pictures and their holiday schedules. We are still in a growing phrase so best we can aim for is break even. I think everyone have to overcome the same type of challenge when starting something new. Don\t give up!
