Smith & Wesson SD40 VE Review

What do you think about this video?

John Parkhurst: S&W should pay you a percentage of their sells for this fire arm. I know your video helped me make a decision, & I'm not the only one. Can't wait to go shoot mine! S#it I just bought 1000 rounds of 45acp witch cost more then this pistol itself! now I just gotta save for some 40ammo, your video sold me! S&W FTW!

Juan Vergara: Hi, a good video...and a good pistol, congratulations! I have a question about of this three guns : S&W SD40 VE, Glock 23 and Beretta PX4 Storm .40 mm. Which of this three weapons, in your opinion, is the best for self defense?...and why? I appreciate your help, because i want to buy a handgun soon. Greetings from Chile.

Junar Obenza: Nice vid. I got this gun on sale for $289 at my local Academy Sports minus 20% off for signing up on their credit card. I had a big smile on my face when I got out the door. Lol. I had shot 500 rounds through it already that's including 20 rounds variety of defensive ammo, with no malfunction. The trigger sucks, but it's way better than the sigma I used to had.

Cali Gemini79: I've had my eyes on the sd9ve but since most of my hand guns are 40 I'm really considering the 40 since seeing your video. Nice gun.

jordanaug81: As far as "compact" double action semi-auto handguns go, in my humble opinion of course, this is the best firearm money can buy. I own a G23 and one of these and I can honestly say, looks aside, the Glock is an overpriced SD. Wonderful handgun.

NCHunter79: for lefties (like me) the slide release and mag release being on the left is not a big deal. Slide Release can be operated by the off hand (right) thumb, and the mag release can be operated with the left trigger finger with no problems with a bit of practice.

Michael Johnson: Great video but I'm wondering about the 45/90 degree angle shots. Why would this gun not fire at ANY angle. LOL No I'm not bashing by no means, I just found the degree shots to be a bit comical. Like I said, Great Video!!

LegendStormcrow: Your are a very responsible gun owner.

HZ RD: You can find this weapon on JBLM here in Washington for $330 WITH NO TAX (with valid ID) and they have plenty of ammo and magazines! ~RoadKill

MegaBait56: you are right, got this sd9ve for my daughter for the range. so she can shoot with her brother and myself. at first she didn't like the trigger but for $20.00 Apex kit and a M&P rear sight $16.00 total $365.00 now 5.5 lb. trigger how can you go wrong? never any ftf's or fte's plus it's S.S. slide it's a keeper.

T.J. Christensen: my daily carry too. the rattling doesn't happen unless youre really running or bouncing up or down stairs. other than that. I trust my life to this thing.

Kragz88: mine doesnt rattle.

Zackery Pieper: I'm from texas so it might be more expensive up north

Ruben Cruz: for you "lefties" learn how to shoot ambidextrous.. it isnt that hard. anywho great video just brought mine about a week ago

Zackery Pieper: great gun picked mine up for 320$ on sale it was 299$ before tax

MrKyle513: DONT RIDE THE SLIDE (at 5:02)! Very knowledgeable guy though, no disrespect!

Darryl Mansfield: Excellent review. I am looking for a range gun to supplement my XD9 compact carry gun. I do not want to spend a huge amount, but want a decent gun. I think this is a go for me. Thanks for the review.

eolson1964: The magazine only rattles if you are carry ball ammo, defensive rounds won't rattle

us mc: @NCHunter79 Would this be good to carry I've hurde its not. but its cheap thats why i want it

Michael Murphy: Great review!! I owned the first generation swve40 and the trigger was crazy on it but it ate everything i feed it all types of ammo i want this as a second gun instead of a 9mm this video was excellent.

Steven yousif: this video was the final decision for me to purchase this gun for daily carry. great video. paid 350.00 at Michigan gun show. and i love the gun light weight and packs a punch...

Billdogg100: Cool review video! I got the sd9ve. I love it.

wade garrett: I work at academy and been playin around with one and you sir just completely sold me. By the way we have them for $319 and I get a 20% discount

Lea Braack: I own this gun and I agree that it is a nice, solid, home defense gun. The only part I would add to your video is the disassembly of it, which can be difficult for people like me with smaller hands. Otherwise, I appreciate your video and found it to be right on target with my thoughts on the gun.

Big bud Indica: Mine mag dont do that !

funa mota: Does it have a metal Gide rod ? The older ones have plastick or the recoil spring is it plastic too

minibeastvids: FOR ALL LEFTYS they do make ambidextrous models at the same price.

LOSisBEAST2: nice review, threw me off when u just aimed at nothing and shot lol nice gun but recoil seems much but i like

william jones: Just purchased this gun while my car was getting an oil changed lol I was way to excited to find it at such a low price won't be surprised if the price rockets great gun

funa mota: It's $400 plus tax so $430 or 450 in California

OldProudVeteran: This is my daily carry, have had several over the years, never had an issue, accuracy is good. Yes the mags rattle but I don't carry but 13 and one in the pipe. No issues. I like it and would put it up against higher dollar of same cal. Good review. It is basic, but stands up.

rdsii64: The gun does exactly what its supposed to do. Its inexpensive to buy, its accurate enough to consistently put the rounds in center of an attackers upper torso at 21 feet. Its durable enough to be a EDC . The trigger is long heavy but smooth. You don't want a light trigger on a fighting pistol.

Mke Frain: Great video! Looking to add a 40cal to my arsenal and you covered everything about this gun! Looks like a good buy for the price!

einar90808: for lefties (like me) the slide release and mag release being on the left is not a big deal. Slide Release can be operated by the off hand (right) thumb, and the mag release can be operated with the left trigger finger with no problems with a bit of practice.

Eric k: asthmatic camera man

Mike Denson: Nice review, thanks for posting. Bought this gun used and wasn't sure what I was getting into, but after taking it out a couple of times, I'm very happy with my purchase. Under $300, this is a value!

2-1 BrAvO: Nice review of this gun. It is a good deal, and you can never have too many guns. Your right about fine motor skills being diminished in a hostile situation. I was in the Army and the stories you hear about people shooting at each other at very close ranges and not hitting each other is true. We call it "buck fever" because it's a lot like when you're hunting and that big buck walks right out within range. Your adrenaline goes because all you want to do is put the buck down and not make a mistake. It's slightly amplified in a fire fight and you get an intense adrenaline rush and you REALLY want to put down the threat before they put you down. It's very hard to aim, handle your weapon, or think with any efficiency.

OneTimeN BandCamp: NICE Jeep!

scylla1967: Drop an Apex trigger and spring kit into that Smith and it is a totally different gun. I enjoy shooting this pistol over anything else in my modest collection.

Isaac Thistle: thanks for the good review vid. i just bought one for my wife for self defense.

Andy Te Slaa: heavy breathing

Kevill: All the research I've done into this firearm and I had not known about the rattling magazines.... I'm really glad I came across your video here, and thank you for the information in it. ...it also makes me rethink how well I do my research.

Ricardo Simmons: +NCHunter79 good review. recently purchased the sd9ve and i can agree that the trigger is a little much. im going to be using this weapon for concealed carry and im going to be installing the apex spring kit. much of the "modifying a self defense gun legal issues" story is just a myth. on top of that, the kit only brings the trigger pull down from 8 to 5.5-6 lbs. that is a very average trigger pull and if anything, will help you be more accurate and proficient with the firearm. if anything, id be more concerned of the legal issues relating to the heavy factory trigger pull, causing me to possibly miss in the heat of the moment if i ever had to defend myself.

ryan215553: I just got a brand new for 329

jdubs870: i like your video, and i own a S&W sd40ve, beautiful, well made weapon for under $330, that i use to ccw. my mags rattle but, in my holster you can't hear it. also, i don't know any man, whose pockets don't make some noise. be it from, keys/change. no big deal tho.

cory stereo: A .40S&W for under $400?!!!! I know what I'm spending my next paycheck on! Thank the gods I moved from a blue state to a red state, where I don't have to jump through 1000 hoops to get one of these!! Long live the 2nd Amendment! :)

ObzeRveTheBand: That's a badass gun.

Mina Armanious: Ok, first of all, it's a 14+1 mag capacity, second of all the serration on the front of the slide is for press checking the weapon. I just bought this weapon and I agree with most of the points in your video. However, my service weapon for almost 6 years was a Glock 22 and the eurgonomics on the Glock are beatiful! Having said that, the slim design of the SD40 VE is a huge selling point from a concealed carry perspective. Overall, I agree with you; for the price, this S&W is a GREAT buy.

NCHunter79: Very glad the video was helpful...that was my intent.

TheKnightOfTheGrey: Guns are big business, wake up. Gun won't go anywhere.

EMT: Thanks! They sometimes skip corners and take the easy way. If they ever did that, I suggest you consult with a paralegal or lawyer. This way they won't be able to cheat you.
