Smith & Wesson SD40 VE Review

What do you think about this video?

Javier Marquez: Lol

Michael Murphy: Great review!! I owned the first generation swve40 and the trigger was crazy on it but it ate everything i feed it all types of ammo i want this as a second gun instead of a 9mm this video was excellent.

LOSisBEAST2: nice review, threw me off when u just aimed at nothing and shot lol nice gun but recoil seems much but i like

OldProudVeteran: This is my daily carry, have had several over the years, never had an issue, accuracy is good. Yes the mags rattle but I don't carry but 13 and one in the pipe. No issues. I like it and would put it up against higher dollar of same cal. Good review. It is basic, but stands up.

NCHunter79: for lefties (like me) the slide release and mag release being on the left is not a big deal. Slide Release can be operated by the off hand (right) thumb, and the mag release can be operated with the left trigger finger with no problems with a bit of practice.

Jessey: @NCHunter79 Would this be good to carry I've hurde its not. but its cheap thats why i want it

Kevill: All the research I've done into this firearm and I had not known about the rattling magazines.... I'm really glad I came across your video here, and thank you for the information in it. ...it also makes me rethink how well I do my research.

Steven yousif: this video was the final decision for me to purchase this gun for daily carry. great video. paid 350.00 at Michigan gun show. and i love the gun light weight and packs a punch...

Lea Braack: I own this gun and I agree that it is a nice, solid, home defense gun. The only part I would add to your video is the disassembly of it, which can be difficult for people like me with smaller hands. Otherwise, I appreciate your video and found it to be right on target with my thoughts on the gun.

Andy Te Slaa: heavy breathing

Mike Denson: Nice review, thanks for posting. Bought this gun used and wasn't sure what I was getting into, but after taking it out a couple of times, I'm very happy with my purchase. Under $300, this is a value!

wade garrett: I work at academy and been playin around with one and you sir just completely sold me. By the way we have them for $319 and I get a 20% discount

Big bud Indica: Mine mag dont do that !

funa mota: Does it have a metal Gide rod ? The older ones have plastick or the recoil spring is it plastic too

Eric k: asthmatic camera man

rdsii64: The gun does exactly what its supposed to do. Its inexpensive to buy, its accurate enough to consistently put the rounds in center of an attackers upper torso at 21 feet. Its durable enough to be a EDC . The trigger is long heavy but smooth. You don't want a light trigger on a fighting pistol.

Isaac Thistle: thanks for the good review vid. i just bought one for my wife for self defense.

funa mota: It's $400 plus tax so $430 or 450 in California

Mke Frain: Great video! Looking to add a 40cal to my arsenal and you covered everything about this gun! Looks like a good buy for the price!

minibeastvids: FOR ALL LEFTYS they do make ambidextrous models at the same price.

scylla1967: Drop an Apex trigger and spring kit into that Smith and it is a totally different gun. I enjoy shooting this pistol over anything else in my modest collection.

william jones: Just purchased this gun while my car was getting an oil changed lol I was way to excited to find it at such a low price won't be surprised if the price rockets great gun

OneTimeN BandCamp: NICE Jeep!

jdubs870: i like your video, and i own a S&W sd40ve, beautiful, well made weapon for under $330, that i use to ccw. my mags rattle but, in my holster you can't hear it. also, i don't know any man, whose pockets don't make some noise. be it from, keys/change. no big deal tho.

cory stereo: A .40S&W for under $400?!!!! I know what I'm spending my next paycheck on! Thank the gods I moved from a blue state to a red state, where I don't have to jump through 1000 hoops to get one of these!! Long live the 2nd Amendment! :)

ryan215553: I just got a brand new for 329

Ricardo Simmons: +NCHunter79 good review. recently purchased the sd9ve and i can agree that the trigger is a little much. im going to be using this weapon for concealed carry and im going to be installing the apex spring kit. much of the "modifying a self defense gun legal issues" story is just a myth. on top of that, the kit only brings the trigger pull down from 8 to 5.5-6 lbs. that is a very average trigger pull and if anything, will help you be more accurate and proficient with the firearm. if anything, id be more concerned of the legal issues relating to the heavy factory trigger pull, causing me to possibly miss in the heat of the moment if i ever had to defend myself.

einar90808: for lefties (like me) the slide release and mag release being on the left is not a big deal. Slide Release can be operated by the off hand (right) thumb, and the mag release can be operated with the left trigger finger with no problems with a bit of practice.

ObzeRveTheBand: That's a badass gun.

Mina Armanious: Ok, first of all, it's a 14+1 mag capacity, second of all the serration on the front of the slide is for press checking the weapon. I just bought this weapon and I agree with most of the points in your video. However, my service weapon for almost 6 years was a Glock 22 and the eurgonomics on the Glock are beatiful! Having said that, the slim design of the SD40 VE is a huge selling point from a concealed carry perspective. Overall, I agree with you; for the price, this S&W is a GREAT buy.

NCHunter79: Very glad the video was helpful...that was my intent.

TheKnightOfTheGrey: Guns are big business, wake up. Gun won't go anywhere.

jordanaug81: Lol that's just the way S&W designs the mag it has nothing to do with interchangeability between different cartridges. I don't know why you want to disagree with fact but .40S&W & .357 sig have the identical magazine capacities when used in the same magazine because the .357 sig is nothing more than a .40S&W casing necked down at the top to shoot a 9mm bullet.

redneckklown: I got this handgun as a home security weapon. I like it. Its light weight and easy to use in a stressful situation. Its good for the buck it cost

InvictusRob: My trigger isn't that long on mine.

JranEQ: I got one of these when they first came out and LOVE it.

Joe Green: I got the sd40ve for $319 and the sd9ve a week later during a sale they had for $299. That's 2 for the price of 1 of my Glocks. Crazy because I think I'm liking these better than my Glocks also. They're American and seem to be able to take the same abuse as a Glock so far. Good video man... Thanks.

NCHunter79: I agree, a great gun for the price. A little too big for carry for my taste, but some folks carry 1911's so this is lighter than those.

MrBigfatturd: It was hard to tell on the video, but how would you say the recoil was?

NCHunter79: Thank you.

gmerrill1986: Great reveiw and real world testing. I have settled on two guns and after this reveiw im going to get me one of these guns. Thanks for your vid

C Nez: nice review, I have one. It is my entry level. The mags do make noise, hope they can fix this.

TheHeathinvader: 3:45. heavy breathing in the background.........SSSSSPOOOOKEEEYYY.....

sparmel1: I watched a few reviews of this S & W SD40 VE. I have owned the for approx 3 months and have shoot little over 400 rounds with various ammo from cheap reloads to very nice quality Hollow points. No problems at all. Now the one question why reviews given saying mag holds 13 rounds. Both of my mags that came with th gun hold 14 and of course 1 in chamber total is 15.... not 12 or 13.

fasho wunnhunnet: y does mine have a failure to feed? HELP PLZ THIS IS MY HOME DEFENCE GUN

ogunonjo: I've got this same pistol. I love it. Great price ($372 out the door) I heard some mags rattle and ppl swapped them out. My mags dont rattle when loaded.... I like this much more than the 9mm glock i fired. The recoil between the two was minimal....to me anyway, thats why I went with the 40. PLus the glock kept stove piping or the casings were flying out in random places. Fire 100 rounds through this and every one ejected same way, no stove pipes. very reliable.

Muipha: nice video... i think it made up my mind on my first gun.

serilus4life: The magazine rattles like a snake when full loaded or loaded at that. I got the SD40VE and the magazine is quiet when 7 rounds are loaded. Other than that it rattles. Paid $300 for it new. It is a good value for self defense home gun.

NCHunter79: For the price, I don't think anyone can wrong with this gun. I'm looking at getting another one as a designated vehicle gun.

NCHunter79: No, none. All gun makers can have "lemons", I'm guessing you might have been the un-lucky one to get it. The only other thing I can think of is if your using American Eagle ammo. That brand has all kinds of problems out of all guns.
