Earl Pins: not as 'bling' because it has a thick coated 'carry' finish on it..can't
remember what they call it.
MrNeedsdecaf: Nice looking gun, but it ain't no Nighthawk Custom or Ed Brown
thealize808: what about the price?
GunWebsites: @StiThis1 .45acp
GunGlutton: god dammit i want that 1911 so bad! im going to be pissed off if my gun
shop cant find one!
GunWebsites: @QcHernan17 Yea, like probeast270 said, HD is Kimber's way of naming their
models with Stainless Steel frames (Heavy Duty)
Hernan Moraga: @probeast270 But it would be ST not HD... ahhh, I dont understand this!! I
think that because everything that's expensive this days is HD (even
glasses xD) they call the friggin gun HD too cause it will influence the
subconcsius of the person that's gonna buy it. That's the way I see it. :)
Gewehr7: @GunWebsites correct me if im wrong but I think he meant the price range
GunWebsites: @MrSuperfrog6 I think of them as tiny test tubes with radio active gas
inside they glow in the dark and last for something like 10 years before
getting too dim to use so at night you see three tiny dots on your sights
even in total darkness
thealize808: how much does the custom hd weigh?
losunimo88: bling is good!
fortgreene31: That is a nice collection you have for sure. Peace!
1911GunLover: Is the barrel and mainspring housing stainless steel?
TheMacmanr: Do you know if the fullsize model has a internal safety?
ItCantBeTrue8897: awsome looking gun! wish i had one
violet0313: timberrrrr! i mean kimberrrrrr!
shiv595: @MrSuperfrog6 They are small tubes filled with a gas called tritium.
Tritium is like a hydrogen atom, but with two extra neutrons (so heavier).
The tritium radioactively decays and supplies energy to the phosphor layer
inside the tube, causing it to light up. Tritium is only dangerous when
ingested, inhaled or in direct contact with the skin and has been leaked
from 48 of the 65 nuclear plants in the United States. It will last about
10-20 years in sights and watches, and costs $30,000 per gram.
probeast270: @QcHernan17 stainless steel
TYLER VAN STRATEN: Just wondering but what are night sights?
ballrub: very cool!!!!!!keep me in mind come christmas...
TheRaNgEr9701: I picked one up at finfurfeather about two weeks ago for a tad over 1500. I
haven't taken it to the range yet but I did break it down and gave it a
good cleaning. The barrel bushing was so tight that I scratched the front
of the slide turning the bushing even with a plastic wrench. Can't wait to
get to the range.
Ray Marrujo: THEY DO
GunWebsites: @FuLLMetALJackET308 they might, there are like a million models
FuLLMetALJackET308: @MrNeedsdecaf i want a ss finish, i know its made from ss
PaladinOrgy: Don't trust the Kimber "stainless" I have a Custom Stainless TLE II, the
slide, frame (under the grips), barrel, hammer & sights are rusting like a
bitch from daily IWB carry. Ordered some FrogLube hoping that it'll fix my
Allen Harrison: how does that scaling feel?
Hernan Moraga: Why HD???
Matthew Hawking: That's a nice looking piece of hardware. I've got a custom shop Pro Carry,
and I really like it a lot.
MMBNM: @GunWebsites I thought there were like some sorf of fiber or something
Sam S: Does the Super Carry HD have the Schwartz Safety, or is it a Series 70
type? I was under the impression that only the Models with the "II" after
the model name have the Schwartz Safety.
pooinyourass: picked it up at cabelas ?
Hiluxtaco: The scales look really neat on this Kimber...
freeze427: @Right2Carry1911 That's strange. Stainless is not supposed to rust.
Jay Martin: I've heard they list for $1600 but you could probably get it for $1350.
StiThis1: whats this run usually?
UBIincorporated: ohh freak so many of them i want them all :( my father will buy M1911 and
ill upload new vid me shooting so check it out
PaladinOrgy: @1911GunLover No all Kimber barrels are carbon steel, I can't say on the
mainspring housing on this particular model.
hxcrocker75: I just came a lil.
Mrcaffinebean: I really like the Scaling but I have never felt it.
GunWebsites: @MMBNM those are 'hi-viz' sights, they don't have any light source so they
GunGlutton: i never wanted a kimber until i saw this kimber! i want that sooooo bad!
GunWebsites: @taskforce437 I guess not, since Kimber has more than one line with these
scales.. so someone must be buying them
echang86: That's a sexy looking 1911. I love the blacked out accents, and the scaling
is attractive too.
joeylk4d4: To answer an older question, they are night sights and yes they do glow
green in the dark. I just bought one yesterday and that was a pleasant
surprise that I noticed last night.
GunWebsites: @Mo7Vsta not real aggressive, nothing like the checkering on other models,
but better than the smooth grip when there is nothing there
GunWebsites: @pmprydr Kimber products are named because of their features.. Super Carry
models include: Night sights, ambidextrous thumb safety, match grade
trigger group and KimPro II, a proprietary high-tech finish that is
self-lubricating and extremely durable
pmprydr: For someone more familiar with the modern polymer guns, why do they dub
this gun super-carry when the slide is so long. I would think 3-4 inch
barrel would have that name (like glock 27). What characteristic are they
referring to making it super-carry? Is it that the sights don't snag or
something completely different? Thanks
taskforce437: Why do i feel so pleased with myself for watching a review on a HD gun, in
720p hd? oh the shame of being so childish...as nice as the scales may be
to use, am I the only one who likes the look of normal serrations?
Hernan Moraga: @GunWebsites ahh, ok, now I get it. Thanks
MrNeedsdecaf: @FuLLMetALJackET308 The HD is made from stainless steel
