Rick Hunter: Who wouldn't like a well made video, with a good burn out at the end ?
Timothy Joyce: I actually just watched your video last night. Then this afternoon put a
new actuator in my truck. The 4wd light was taking a long time to go on
and off. Now the 4wd engages in and out very quickly. To get the big snap
ring out I bent the clip forward with the beveled side towards the clip and
pulled it out in about minute. Then hammered the actuator, rotating my
hits clockwise till it came out. Figured I would share my story. Thanks
for the confidence from your video to do the job!
kirt fossum: What kind of oil do you put back in actuator motor housing
John Hall: Is the front actuator in the same place on a 2007 dodge ram 4x4 ???????
dillon14dj: Now come do the one on my 01 ram please lol. Front driveshaft will spend
but not tires/and light doesnt come on anymore
Steven Geer: Its 2006. He says it in the first 4 seconds.
Ismael Garcia: Did you have to put more oil once you installed it back on?
tom58c: For the off road stuff we try to just put a straight axle in on that side
and plate off the vacuum actuator. But sense this isn't a off road rock
crawler my comment isn't helpful lol.
500passwords: he almost got you again with that burn out :) i thought that front wheel
was gonna turn right at you . lol
dingdongdillybean: Hey great video, was curious what your symptoms were? My 4x4 light is slow
to come off/go on, and makes a odd noise, which increases with noise the
faster you go, could only go about 50km's, and had to get past a snowstorm.
I could tell the 4x4 was working, but didnt sound healthy at all. As well,
when I was under the truck i noticed I could turn my front drive shaft when
it was in park? Is this normal? Any information would be great!
EdzGarage: @Gearheadtom I've always had 2w drive trucks. They suck in the snow and the
OneHDNetwork: Then why does Posi-Lok sell a locker that goes right there as shown in this
video >> watch?v=wmAq7v93mjE, The only reason I would assume your laughing
is that the actuator is there to turn on the 4x4 light, especially when we
have a 4x4 shifter lever, in the video there is a switch for the light but
it that's all he said it was for... If you think your right and he is wrong
then please educate instead of laugh...
ShawnCFarm: You didn't get hit by rocks this time lol
EdzGarage: @jdrocks85 Thanks Buddy! They worked really well. I haven't had do anything
really big with them yet.
Craig Arndt: Looks like the smile from your son says it all. Nice job fellas!
EdzGarage: @mallydangerous Well, I post almost every job we do in the garage. If I
don't post, it's not broke lol
EdzGarage: @805ROADKING Thanks Buddy! I guess we will see how long.
EdzGarage: @73Shakes Thanks for watching!
jdrocks85: @edzgarage thats good the cool thing about them they work on e torx
OneHDNetwork: its a vacuum assisted locker
EdzGarage: @patwregan That would be a great upgrade one day.
Sears Suburban Backyard Tractor Club: 2 fine mechanics your got there Ed. You forgetting how to do some of this
Paul: That cummins sounds so badass it's not even funny..
craig1974: Nice! I just had to return a couple of faulty tools to Sears yesterday. I
always have problems with those 1/4 inch drive ratchets. Yesterday one of
the front tires went flat on my mothers car, and today i busted the fairing
on my scooter. During the cold weather it really sucks.
the1realanalogman: Excellent tutorial and exactly what I was looking for!!! Thanks for your
great work and for sharing!!
EdzGarage: @ShnitzlHaus No, the transfer case is engaged from inside the cab. The
actuator is basically an automatic locking hub for the front tires.
EdzGarage: @klc317 Yep, he missed me this time lol Thanks for watching!
paperweightgirl: I wished you lived near by, I could use a good mechanic.
TheMonstar305: my 99 has abs and brake light on what could be the problem? new senor both
side .no TDC
EdzGarage: @biggdaddy2001 I don't really know. In our case it was the actuator.
ShnitzlHaus: @edzgarage ahh okay, thats what I was thinking but never been around the
4wd dodge to know :P good videa!
b737drvr: Good vid. Ed, could you add me as one of your contacts, so I can send you a
message. Got a couple of questions unrelated to the video to ask you.
EdzGarage: @CDNBadass LOL I bet those tools get plenty dirty in the future. Thanks
EdzGarage: @paperweightgirl What about Marcel??? LOL j/k
tom58c: @edzgarage Not high on your list im sure lol.
EdzGarage: @ShawnCFarm lol Nope, they missed me this time!
dingdongdillybean: how do you check the vacuum?just start the truck, have someone switch it
into four wheel drive and take the vacuum line off and feel fore pressure
mbyr31: Great job guys! That tool set looks pretty nice Ed Could you have used a
hook to get that clip out? I hate those clips sometimes.
EdzGarage: @krupter lol I guess you never know! Thanks for the comment Buddy!
EdzGarage: @500passwords Yep, I thought I was going to get a dirt-snow pie in the
EdzGarage: @dangerline95 It sure is!
EdzGarage: @69dodgechargerrt1 It would be even better with a stick!
EdzGarage: @1968hambone Thanks HB!
EdzGarage: Sounds like your actuator is not engaging all the way. It could be a vacuum
leak at the actuator or in the line going to the actuator.
EdzGarage: @OldTimeForties Thanks Buddy!
EdzGarage: @o7powerwagon Thanks Buddy!
kennethpeterson67: That's awesome good. Nolige to know. Thanx
Doreen DeLancy: Hey Ed. I just bought a brand new actuator, transfer case sensor, bearings
and seals in the front axle of my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 and my actuator still
won't push the collar all the way over on the stub shaft (center shaft)
like it should. So it chewed off the ends of the splines on the center
shaft. Any thoughts on what could be causing this or where the trouble may
lie? Thanks a lot.
EdzGarage: Thanks for watching!
biggdaddy2001: What goes out more the vaccume switch aka cad valve or the actuator
