Eric Bachmann: First: If you are going to do a How-to video on a GM vehicle, you could
have at least used a GM key that actually has the Passkey Chip.
Second: Simply "pretending" that the key has a chip is hilarious!!!
Actually testing a GM key with the Passkey Chip would have been WAAAAAAAAY
Third: I frequent a Forum where a lot of the members have done this VATS
(Vehicle Anti Theft System) bypass. Myself, being in the car audio
industry, I DO NOT recommend this, BUT, If the VATS system is beyond
"reasonable" repair, A Bypass may be the only "reasonable" option. I ALWAYS
recommend installing an after market alarm system after the VATS bypass has
been done. In the video, the guy says the resistance in the key (chip)
pellet can be anywhere between 400-15,000 ohms. There are 15 possible ohm
values, the lower being 402 and the higher being 11,800.
Chris Quick: Security light on solid for 5 seconds then goes out, engine doesn't turn
over. I put a ohm meter across the PK2 key resister and get no reading.
Cleaned and Tried front to back, back to front, nothing. Am I to assume the
resister is bad? It's the only key for the car. Any suggestion?
Zoran Bogunovic: As an electrical enginer I can say with 100% that this guy is an idiot when
it comes explanation. Good thing he is not working on real stuff.
Before the internet I never knew who the local idiots are but now with
interner I know who the idiots are.
Danroxye01: About the Passlock Bypass? ( part of an old remote starter package) I wish
to remove it and return to original configuration. I suspect this recently
intalled Passlock Bypass to be causing excessive battery drainage. So I am
confused on the procedure ( How to do it properly ) . The reason , ever
since GM ignition switch recall, GM shop sent me else where to have this
generic remote starter reprogramed, elsewhere garage had to replace
Passlock Bypass box, and now, I notice battery drainage and it cant be that
new battery I just installed. I got the remote starter out but when I
removed the Passlock Bypass out of the saturn Ion I notice car passlock
indicator on ( car would start anyway with the indicator on ). Could you
please explain a simple procedure ?
Just a Dude: This is a great way to temporarily bypass the security in the key/ignition.
If the Theft Deterrent Module is bad, it won't help you at all. If you've
tried this and it didn't help, or you are looking for a more complete
bypass, go to this link i found. Great information and a permanent way to
eliminate this issue for good on your GM.
reginald kelley: Having a hard time in Chicago finding someone who knows how to do the
security foot down with the resistance any suggestions
SECURITY BYPASS: This site has a lot of information and can help you beat this problem for
far less than the $1000 dealer quote.
memph33777: i have repaired the broken wires in my ignition a few times. this time car
wouldnt start and i was getting a code 22 and 58 obd1. Took apart the lock
cylinder and wires were broke. repaired wires (i think because they were
very short) and car would not start like other times but security light
would not come back on.. put resistors together for bypass and still wont
start. did bypass 30/50 hz between tdr and ecm and still wont start. when
turning ignition no sound at all. hooked up remote starter and car will
crank but dies after 2 seconds. fuel pump will whirl and fuel injector
noid light flashes some.
Eddie Diaz: There is a recall for this. Get it fixed right & free. 800-762-2737
Jodi Adams: This is the site that helped me.. its easy and a permanent fix :0)
The security, antitheft or lock picture/icon is a visual indication that
something in the car's antitheft system is failing. In most GM cars and
trucks there is a hidden system that most people are unaware even exists.
From the moment you put your key in the ignition, there begins a constant
line of communication between your key's security chip or transponder, to
the ignition's lock cylinder, and then to the car's TDM (Theft Deterrent
Module). These 3 parts are in CONSTANT communication. If the key is in the
ignition, then these parts are sending signals to each other. The security
light illuminates when that signal gets broken, even just for a second.
When the signal breaks, the car misinterprets this as an attempt at theft
and goes into antitheft mode. The car thinks its being stolen or hotwired
because it is not getting that signal from YOUR specific key. This is why
the security light turns on and shuts down your vehicle. This link explains
it pretty well.
Jake Buxton: Good video if you're looking to make your car prone to hotwiring /
screwdriver auto theft. In the 80's when this ATS was implemented Corvette
thefts went down by 90%. Performing the action in this video is clever, but
stupid as crap. On another critical note, these are NOT passlock systems.
When you say Passlock, you're referring to the GM 10cut passlock systems
that have a magnet + transponder system built into the lock itself to
prevent hotwiring only. VATS locks use keys called Passkey I and Passkey II
depending on whether your lock uses a single or double sided key. These
locks are strictly referred to as VATS locks. Try to be a bit more accurate
and CAREFUL when presenting your company in these videos bud. Thanks for
teaching auto thieves around the world douche.
Dales channel: Lessco
Ive watched a few videos on this. I want to override/eliminate the passlock
system altogether. Are the videos that show cutting the yellow wire and
placing a resistor between the yellow wire and the orange/black wire and
taping up the excess yellow wire that goes up to the key. Is this the right
procedure? and if it is, how do I find what the resistor value should be.
The videos say to measure the resistance (after you cut the yellow wire)
between the yellow wire and orange/black. I get a reading 3600ohms when I
measure on the strand of yellow wire going into the steering column, but
when I measure the strand of yellow wire that goes up to the key it
registers (infinity). Does that tell you anything?, all the other videos
say I should have measurable resistance where I'm measuring infinity.
Jodi Adams: Here is a permanent fix http://www.diy-gm-security.com/ you can do it
Dominique Parker: My light stays on, I have 97 malibu, It took a week to start and now it
will not start, I lost my keyless entry will that have any effect on the
car's ability to start? I left my key in the on position it still will not
Ronald Bolden: you can turn this off with HPtuners
Brian O: Will an auto repair shop fix this issue, or is this a home fix only
situation? I've called a few places and have explained the issue, they
understand what the problem is but have said they don't do it at their
garage... any help?
Danny F: Video quality is very poor go to High Definition.
Juan Gonzalez: I got a chevy s10 ..1999..it wont start..I just buy that truck guy told me
that you can star that truck with a remote control but I dont have it..how
can I start that truck please need some help
Zionist JewTube: If you live in Toronto could you bypass the VATS on my 98 Cadillac Deville?
Fred .Bo: my key is reading 1.12 i dont know the mathematics of the resistors or what
now what do i need and how many ?
Marquan HollaAtYaBOY: On 05 Mountaineer, thanks.
photo412: i have to do option two that he said but i am unsure what he meas by
resister and i cant see it low quality dose annyone now?
res1492: really does not work in 240p
Dawn Walters: Can you please tell me if you can bypass or override the passlock system in
a 1997 Pontiac Grand Am? I am being told two opposite things by two
Derek Simerly: I have a 2003 chevy ventura van. Do you happen to know where the onstar box
is located in this vehicle? Thank you for any advice.
Nick Exley: I found a wiring Diagram for my vehicle (2006 Chevy Express 3500) I found a
yellow wire in the L.Blue connector of the BCM that is the “security system
sensor wire” and I also found in the Gray connector of the BCM under B7 a
Tan wire that is “Security system sens low ref”. So my question is which of
the two security wires get cut? Tan or Yellow?
Christian Barraza: does this work,if have installed a new cylender lock and key??????????????/
Eric Cumbee: What if the theft light is solid?car won't crank sometimes, do i need to do
the ground wire to the pink wire thing?
Marquan HollaAtYaBOY: Good video Lessco, Question, Have watch previous version of your video on
how to install remote start kit, Do you have a video on how to setup OEM
Interface 3 PULSE START?, with vehicles that already have Keyless entry
installed. I have a vehicle that already has a OEM remote on the key chain
for unlock/lock/truck & panic. I got a RS00 G4 Add on remote start 3 pulse
for vehicle that came with OEM remote. I just wanted to here how would you
suggest to set this option up for 3 pulse that communicates with the system
anti-theft system already installed by manufacturing. It saves time to
stall less wires to set this option up. Please help, I have read the
instructions, but I just want to here your expertise on this for you have
made good detailed video explaining step by step.
grabir01: It is Resistance not impedance. Impedance is imaginary. Resistance is
real. Impedance is a function of frequency. Resistance is not.
Lessco Electronics: your key should have the + sign on it, making it a passlock 3 system (which
is transponder) this video is only for resistor based passlock 1 and 2
airhead151v2: we had to change the ecm in our 99 Monte Carlo cause of a lightning strike
now it will not turn over we think vats is the problem but we were
wondering if you had any other suggestions or if theirs just no hope
(gauges, warning lights, lights and the fuel pump activate when we turn the
Thomas Room: I recently purcahsed a cluster for my car and the security system will not
allow the vecicle to start, one of the messages is disable starter and it
has. if i do the by pass will I still have to have the cluster reprogramed?
Kevin Schmitz: @TheLessco Thanks going to give it a try!
MrJdub928: hey guys, there only 12 differrent value of resistors it can be, go to
the12Volt site get the resistor chart for gm vats, go to radioshack and get
one of those small 10 turn potentometers with a value up to 20K ohms. stet
the pot to the lowest value on the chart with it installed on the car. try
to start it, if it doesnt start, key off set the pot to the next value then
back on for 10 mins, do that ntill you find the right one. youll know you
have the right one when it starts up!
occotillobrock: ok i have a 2001 chevy 1500 with the 5.3 as a farm truck . My passlock has
disabled the motor, so im needing to bypass it. the truck will never leave
my property so disabling the security system would not be a problem.. i saw
the relay option, but i dont have a relay.. where can i get an inline
resistor like you discussed at the end? so i can just put a new resistor in
it, let it sit for 30 min, then try and start it. if i could i would have a
push button start.
zachjjjh: would my 07 tahoe have this in it?
Lessco Electronics: @sr20kschmitz Ive done it many times, its a winner every time
Lessco Electronics: Here is the answer to all your problems, youtube.com/watch?v=A-XJGCOKKYY
bowbeforethedamned: The only right way to bypass VATS is to either have someone reprogram your
ECU to bypass it, or to program it yourself if you have the tools and know
how. I know of one programmer that will do it for around $100 bucks. It may
not be cheap but it's cheaper than just the ignition switch for the VATS
and it's permanent.
Mark Richmond: i find the vats one confusing without wiring diagram can you email me one?
way i see it 30 (with resister) is ground and 87 is when remote starting or
bypassing not sure why 87a is needed? as it is still going to be resited by
30? or do you mean 30 and 87a have continuity(no resister) and run in
between the cut vats wire and when relay energized the resister is on 87
going to car side? see why i need a visual lol
Lessco Electronics: Do the part of the video where I illustrate cutting the 2 white wires (vats
only) and place the same resistor value thats in your ket. thats it.
Vincent taman: Do you have a way to bypass a Passlock for a 2002 Saturn Sl2. I'm having a
hard time with this car. On your video for the passlock 2 system, on the
relay side you mentioned that pin 30 should go to the car side. But on the
Saturn that's the pin for the fuel pump. I really need your expertise on
Lessco Electronics: you can get a used one at a junkyard and spike it like I do as my last
resort method and it'll be back on the road in no time. but of course
you're situation is a bad one. my vid was for cars with aggravating vats
systems, not totally doa ones.
Jamie Galves: I think youre name is Vincent... At least thats what the guys at my remote
start shop up here in Anchorage. We use youre techniques as standard
practice after watching youre videos. You mentioned in one of youre videos
that you can make remote starts that were made for automatics work for
manuals. If you could tell me over a comment reply and.if you have time
make a new video of it. I thank you so much for youre teaching
jesus vargas: I didnt understand the relay part. My 99 silverado is acting up. I already
did the resistor on the wires. It worked fine for a couple months but its
failing again. Does my truck have a relay or do u buy a relay and connect
it to the ignition wires? Help please
Joe Ivo: can you help me with my wifes saturn? its very dangerious so please any
help would be great. 2001 L200
tcrosser: Hey man, video looks great. Im looking at taking your second passlock
option. I have a couple questions about this though and im wondering if you
could do me the favor of corresponding via email.
