NATIVESRAGE: Hello, first thanks for the great video! I used this to guide me on
swapping out the half axle on a 2002 Tahoe. Well now my drivers side half
axle on my 2002 Silverado basically shattered. My question is are the
bolts that fasten the axle available for purchase at a normal auto parts
store? Also I think the bolts broke off so will I need to purchase the part
that the axle mounts too? thanks in advance!
Kelly Cronk: Nice video have watched a few u made sure helps alot ,how do you check
these to make sure they are bad.Would this cause a vibration at 35-50 mph
Caleb Waites: Thank you so much for the videos ive already watch, however i have a 96
silverado is the process similar?
Charles St Clair: Excellent video! Thank you very much.
Joseph Martinez: Very informative video and now all I have to do is wait for good weather
and as Larry the Cable guy says. " get er done" Lol.... Thanks.
Hugh Seagraves: Another great video, thanks. I wish I could do this type of work myself.
Rosterman99: Thank you!
Mu4dD1b15: OK thanks for the info. It's windy 40 degrees and I got off today. No
excuses not to do my sweetys tahoe Looks like maybe 1.5 hours Nice 59
spelunkerd: That's a great idea to use chalk to know which bolts you've torqued -- a
simple solution to a common annoying problem. Another excellent video by 1A
1A Auto Parts: You may be able to apply some of the basic procedures show in this video to
your application. We currently do not have an auto repair video on that
particular year. We'll keep this request in mind in the event that we need
to make this repair in the future.
TheTexasdeerhunter: how do you know when there bad
Steve Weber: Thanks
Keith Krauss: Can I expect a similar process on my 05 trailblazer? Thank you
1A Auto Parts: Usually they will make a clicking or a thumping noise. If your able to move
the axle by hand then they are more than likely bad.
Killer4112: @1aauto yes thank you so much and the video is great
1A Auto Parts: @macgregwire23 You would need a 15MM,22MM and 35MM socket. Right at the
beginning of the video there's a list of tools that you would need. Hope
this helps you out.
kyle smith: how long does it take to do this? would this be any different on a newer
style chevy silverado 2500hd? my cv axel pulled apart is there a way that
can be fixed or do i need to go ahead and get a whole new cv joint?
1A Auto Parts: They should be similar. You should be able to apply some of the basic steps
shown in this video to your application. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1A Auto Parts: Yes, the bolts should be torqued to their proper torque settings. You can
do this in your driveway at home. A breaker bar will help to break the
rusty bolts free. harborfreight com has a really nice 25" one that I've
purchased for $10.99, that will make the job easier to do. Hope this helps
you out. We carry the CV axles for your Chevy Silverado on our website
the4thj: This will give you the 1/4" that is needed to take the axle out, and in
with the new one (need to go forward w/ axle). A jack and stand-(support
frame) will be needed as you will have to move the suspended side up and
down to get axle out and in. This video shows him easily taking the axle
out, but notice his axle has 5 1/4 moons between the bolts, K1500's are all
round. Impacts are a MUST!
jrocmaff: Price for a pair of shafts for 2003 sierra 1500 Z71?
macgregwire23: what are the socket sized used for this if anyone knows that would be great
1A Auto Parts: It really depends on what the hourly rate of the shop is.
1A Auto Parts: It it's a 00-07 then it should be the same or very similar.
b3rgg: Great Demo. Help me get my job done. The only difference on my 2002 Chevy
Suburban 2500, there wasn't really a traditional nut on the top of the
stabilizer link, it was more like a flat washer with a threaded sleeve.
Just used vice-grips to hold it on the edges while I unscrewed the bolt.
Thanks for the video, keep 'em coming.
kyle smith: @1aauto thanks man!!! we replaced the front right axle this weekend!!!
thanks so much for this how too!!!!! couldnt of done it with out you!!
Joseph Upali: I wann a say thank you 1A Auto - for this video
greed2112: The step by step is the most thourogh i've seen! Thanks for making these
videos. Would this video be comparable to changing out the CV joints on a
2000 Jimmy 4x4?
TheCollegeguyman: How much should something like this cost to repair at an auto shop...
1A Auto Parts: You may want to check all of the suspension parts. The ball joint could
make a popping sound if they are going bad.
Debra Cole: Great Video---very informative and precise. Answered the question; "Do I
need to remove linkage also"....Thanks I replaced my Hub-bearing earlier I
should of checked to see if you posted video on that as well!!!!!
1A Auto Parts: @ggfish38 No problem at all. Thanks for stopping by and checking us out.
Have a great day. 1aauto.com
1A Auto Parts: @joey72988 The process may not be exactly the same, but should be similar.
the4thj: Thank you for this! Your doing all of us a GREAT!, public service.
1A Auto Parts: You may hear a thumping noise while you're driving, or maybe even a popping
noise when you turn. If you can move the axle up and down quite a bit, it
may need to be replaced. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
BioGenocideSCD: What are signs of bad CV joints?
TMGPSU1: Do you have a video like this for an '07 Envoy? Or is this close enough?
Christopher Gonzalez: thank you so much for this video !!!!!!! really thank you!!!!!!
1A Auto Parts: Thanks for checking us out! Have a great day!
1A Auto Parts: Thank you for visiting our auto repair channel on YouTube. Have a great day
1A Auto Parts: If only one has gone bad you can change just one.
1A Auto Parts: @ggfish38 Your newer truck should be similar. Usually it's easier and not
to much more money to just replace the whole axle.
Adolfo P: Just wanted to say, Thanks! Your vid gave me the confidence to do the job
myself. I saved money and time, Thanks again!
El Shaddai Painting Inc.: hi I have a 2001 gmc sierra and the left front axle is making noises, what
is it? just the bearing or the differential problem
stupidstt: This is seriously the best youtube channel out there!! Thanks!
crippycrippy: what are the signs when there about to give out? i hear a clicking sound on
my truck and im not sure what it is..
Chris Bryant: very good video awsome
1A Auto Parts: @TheTexasdeerhunter Usually they'll make either a thumping or a humming
1A Auto Parts: It could be the u-joint in the axle or a wheel bearing.
