BAOFENG UV5RA New Version Dual Band U/V 136-174/400-480Mhz Radio

What do you think about this video?

409shop409: +Michael Shaffer thanks

409shop409: Can this work in Europe?

Michael Shaffer: Beautiful hands....... Oh! and the radio looks nice too.

Adam R: Ignore the negative comments. I own one of these radios on I'm going to buy at least one more. For $34 (amazon , ebay) you can get the radio, charger, headset and USB cable. Its very well made and should probably cost 5 times more money or more. Some people that own ICOMS prefer to use this little radio. Yes, you have to research a little bit in how to program it, but it's not hard. Download the CHIRP software to a PC, hook up the cable to the radio and type your frequencies in using your computer keyboard. Buy a better antenna for $7, and this great radio gets even better. Definitely worth trying it out. You do need a ham license to avoid steep fines for getting caught transmitting on this. Study for the test and pay the $15 for 10 year license.

Toby: you are not telling us crap, you are just pushing buttons

Tyranny Cox: there is a video here of a british man that takes u through the manual steps but he has a uk version radio things r not as hard for the american version as n uk version things r backwards up is down and setting squelch at 8 means about 2 in american version in uv5ra a stands for american all ur answers r right here on youtube and there r at least 2 other sites that do the manual steps.

409shop409: Can this work in Europe?

Tyranny Cox: u can get license in usa to use GMRS. and For those who dont understand programming i hv 2 uv5ra ht s I used chirp. Then i found some things must be set manually anyway. There is a detailed description online with pics that takes u through step by step. Only one draw back i hv found. If u use different repeaters and they hv different tones u will find u must reset the tones when u change repeater. I put my units on mobile antennas n window and im very happy with performance as good as a 400$ mobile rig.

kvkkkvkk: hello , can this radio be used as point-to-point walkie talkie ? how far can it perform well & clear ? do i really have to program it before use ? i m now using midland gxt1000 , how u think when compared ? tks for reply ... cheers ...

Mikes1000Toys: For what? I send the radio back I'm not paying for a thing for a POS radio that can't be programmed .

409shop409: can you give me your email that i can send you the freq. data and you can prog. it

409shop409: thanks

jinkjack: Different firmware which cannot be updated!

superzapper: Baofeng hardware is over complicated crap with a useless warranty and nobody willing to service or fix this stuff unless you know someone who can fix them or spend large amounts of cash hoping someone can fix them . imho I would stick with Icom or equivalent and stear clear of the Baofeng crap

409shop409: 3800mah Battery is fit for UV-5R-UU Yellow

Brian Patenaude: Im looking for a handheld that has a large capacity for output for under a $100. Any advice or know of anything that can broadcast far distances for a low cost?

409shop409: the max output is 4watts

409shop409: thanks for your message

Tony Wang: The new design looks tacky and like a toy talki. I prefer the look of last generation.

Dan white: You have to program these in order to use them..?

409shop409: BF297

J Doe: okay - thanks

409shop409: which step you don't understand?

J Doe: sorry wrong post. IDK. I had asked the something.

409shop409: Channel without frequency. e.g) RX: 150.000mhz TX: 160.000mhz Step 1: Setting the Radio in Frequency mode first Step 2: set the upper frequency to TX: 160.000mhz Step 3: Press Menu 27 Step 4: Press Menu again to choose the Channel Step 5: Press Menu to save the frequency in CH Step 6: Press exit to go out the menu Step 7: set the upper frequency to RX: 150.000mhz Step 8: Press Menu 27 Step 9: Press Menu again to choose the same Channel Step 10: Press Menu to save the frequency in CH

409shop409: what it doesn't work??? are you program by program cable?

409shop409: UV-5R = UV-5RE = UV-5Rplus all functions are same, just outward appearance just outlook different

409shop409: You can Search following item code at our shop BAOFENG C-150 (107053) BAOFENG BF-758-S (106608) FeiDaxin FD-390 (103958)

409shop409: do you use the correct version software?

mason maclean: Yes :) though I don't think you are supposed to lol I believe those are the American version of our UK PMR bands permitted to 0.5 Watt on FRS and up to 5 Watt GMRS I think they operate around 462MHz and 467MHz with 25kHz steps and reading up on ebay this radio does that ;)

rompn4x: What are the major differences between the uv5r and the uv5ra?

Mikes1000Toys: Can Some body help me set up this radio . I'm not happy with this radio. like when i first bought it .
