William Klug: what torque converter ? magnetized , overdrive or normal? how can you tell?
warren d: What Was It Doing to decide this , I was driving mine then wouldn't go let
sit for 30 min shift in reverse going to try drive here in few
Carlos Leyva: I will post a video of mine and see if you can tell what is wrong. please.
Tim Vincent: I have a 1999 Durango 5.2 with the 44re transmission, I've had the pan off
and saw these solenoids. I did a filter and fluid change, upon first test
drive it was fine, however after work, it shifts first and second reliably
no slippage, but wouldn't go into third or overdrive, before this, it would
go first second then third if I'd run up the rpms get up to around 45 then
go from D to N to D real quick while lifting off the accelerator then it
would grab third. Sounds like these solenoids are exactly my problem.
however with that being said, I have a friend who is an expert transmission
guy who I learned has a source to buy transmission parts whole sale (used
to have mechanic shop in town) I learned I can get all the transmission
parts for a whole rebuild and upgrade to 46re guts for the same price as
these solenoids by themselves. I think I'm going to have it gutted and
networkingthefuture: I have 98 5.9 dodge ram automatic trans, getting a p0740 code! Torque
convert clutch circuit/open. Could this be caused by needing to replace the
parts you do in this video?
Most of the time the truck is shifting fine, but sometime it just refuses
to shift into 3rd(at least I think it's 3rd. After pulling off the road,
putting it in park and then shifting back into drive it is fine.
mountandhang: I have a 97 dodge ram. I have to put it in 1st then bump it to 2nd and then
drive but once i slow down or stop it pops out of gear then i have to do it
all again. Would this fix the problem?
raptorrider99ify: I have the same truck, mine wont start rolling in first unless I put it in
first on the column, got code p0753 not driving it at all replaced that
sensor and solenoid thanks to ur video it was really easy. any other
suggestions saying solenoid a
eltopo dejalisco: Hey I got a 01 dodge ram 1500 sport v8 5.2l
A friend of mine changed the transmission fluid and the governor solenoid
and at the beginning start to shift smooth and know to shift from.first to
second it goes up to 4000rpm
Do you have any idea what could be the problem
CarPhonix CarAudio: Was this on the 46RE Trans? What did the parts cost you at the dealer?
Would the parts that you showed be the same for my 1998 Dodge Ram 5.2l 4
X2? Thanks for your help!
wwhs98: I just did this to my 1998 dodge ram 1500 v6 with the 42RE transmission. I
was having the same problem. Only thing I still have is that I have to let
the truck warm up, if not, it still has problems shifting out of second, If
I let it warm up for 5 minutes, it shifts great. I just bought the truck
cheap, the previous owner did not took good care of it, so I can expect
some flaws. But thanks for posting the video,
Darren McMackin: Right on man...thanks!
desmond griffin: Hey man just did all this but didn't adjust the front band , now the truck
is downshifting really weird and hard ? Any ideas what's going on. It
wasn't like this before
tedskam: thank you.
good helpful video.
ShaftDrafter97: So I got the parts and installed them and it worked fine...... 3 days later
it sorta doing it again. Any help??
eltopo dejalisco: It was ok on fluid and know it doesn't shift at all
I guess I'll be taking it to a mechanic
Jlnowland1: How can I tell w witch trans I have and were can I get the sensors?
deric Cormier: I have a 97 ram 1500 and my problem is it stays in high gear going up hills
and does not want to stay in on straight highway, seams like it does it
when it gets warm, does this sound like the same problem, yours stays in 2
and spins out, im just not sure if they would be the same issue, thanks for
2012nugget: Running your tranny low on fluid is a bad thing. It may have caused damage
beyond solenoid s.
jbwooten: Mine only has this issue in the rain. Is it the same thing or something
Crego Mon: hey I got a 97 dodge ram 1500, it runs fine starts fine just hard time
shifting to 3rd and 4th, it high revs but shifts at times and other times
it wont shift at all, you think this might be the problem?
Slichman500: I got an 86 gmc sierra that was shifting fine and now the column shift wont
put it back in park.. Would those 2 solenoids be causing that problem or
would adjustments just need to be done??
twinbaby1987: How can u tell if that the prob I have a 1997 dodge truck and when I hit
the gas real hard it's stays stuck in 2nd until I release off the gas then
it shifts I have a video on my page on what's wrong to show u more specific
jessiyoung87: i have a 1996 dodge ram 1500. the other day i helped a friend pull her car
out of the mud and now my transmission is acting up. sometimes it slips
going from dead stop to taking off and is really hard to shift from 2nd to
3rd i have to manually shift from 1st 2nd to drive to get it to shift what
do you think my problem is
ahrimshood: ihave a 2002 rt durango, please let me know if this fix will fit. the
durango revs out arround 4500-5000 rpm before itwill shift to 2nd and
rarely shifts into 3rd. oh and i just did a fluid change and filter no
metal shavings or clutch material
E H: Hi, I have a 2000 model Ram 1500 with automatic over drive transmission. My
truck just started having problems yesterday. My transmission will shift
into every gear except for overdrive. so once I get over 45 mph the rpm
are right at 3k... its down shift back into 2 and 1 as I slow down, up
shifts again as I speed up until its time to shift into over drive. I also
engage the over drive switch on the shift and no change. do I need to
replace the governor pressure switch and solenoid or do I need to change
out the over drive locking solenoid.... thanks
JLGJA: I have 97 5.9 dodge ram automatic trans, I have a p0740 code! Torque
convert clutch circuit/open, is this what the bideo is about? Please let me
know, went to 3 different places they want me to replace the transmission
for $3500.00 I dont have the money, my truck is running perfect is just
sometimes 3rd speed takes a few seconds to work, let me know please I will
Bink Watts: I have a 2000 Dodge I bought that has tranny issues. It is hard to get into
gear, forward or reverse, but when it goes in, it will do fine. It makes a
grinding noise at times. I don't try to drive it at all, I don't want to
cause further damage. The shifting link appears to be adjusted properly.
When the tranny works, it shifts great, that's why I think it may be
something as simple as this. Do the problems I'm having sound like the
problems you were having?
Savu Macias: I just got a 99 dodge ram 1500 regular, on the 1st gear it takes long to
shift to 2nd & when it shift to 2nd I press the gas to go on but it shifts
back to 1st & continues there until I do the same thing let go of the gas
to shift to 2nd once it shift to 2nd I continue very slowly which I don't
like, can it be the sensor ???
Aaron Cooper: I have a 1999 Dodge ram 1500 5.2L 318 4x4 and it starts fine and shifts
into drive and accelerates....but the RPMs tack up to about 4000 and the
transmission still has not shifted......any ideas what it nay be or what I
need to do to fix it??? I would sure appreciate any feedback at all. Thank
redkevlar: Thanks for the video. Very very helpful. I replaced the solenoids,
installed a drain plug in the pan, and adjusted one of my sloppy bands as
you instructed. Tranny shifts perfectly now. Thanks man!
Braxton Sorensen: I have a 2000 dodge cummins wont shift unless u let off of the gas pedal
then it shifts fine is it those solenoids
Josh Turner: This was a good video to show these solenoids. I realize it's old, but
there is a mod you can do to allow for better flow to the first solenoid
you removed. You open up the channel around the screens with a 3/4" drill
bit. As it's designed, the fluid can only get to a small section and if
one of those screens gets partially clogged, it will diminish fluid flow.
I read about it on the dodgetalk forums.
jared squires: your video just saved a guy from getting punched in the
Omer Hadzic: Great job. Thanks
Ruey Diehl: Did you have any transmission codes for these solenoids?
ekoms777: thank you very much for the video!
Maxwell Higgs: this was very help thank you!!!!
Daron Welch: I have a 1995 dodge ram 1500. Transmission was running fine and out of
nowhere, it doesn't jump in gear like it used to. It also doesn't shift
into 3rd gear like it unless I let off the gas, then runs fine after that.
Do you think I'm having the same problem? Are solenoids in the same place
as the 98? It also make like a grinding noise when I put it in gear!
sweet peach: hi i was wondering if you could help me out i have a 1998 dodge durango and
when i first start to drive it its slow to pick up speed then when its run
a little bit it smooth out but when i slow down some times then try to go
up a hill it cant pick up speed fast enough and it make a loud grunting
noise what could be wrong with my truck
Rick Lasee: Sweet video bro. You get 5 stars from me. Only took me 2 hours after
watching your post. Parts were $300 with a new filter but that's a lot
cheaper than any shop would have charged me. Most of them couldn't even
tell me if that was the problem. Thanks and have a Merry Christmas!
cpotter1565: Thanks for Posting this video.
Would this repair be the same for a 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 with the Cummins
Colby Wetzel: I have a 1999 dodge ram 5.9 360 146,000 miles and my tranny is like new and
believe me I like to play in the mud a little bit not a lot but every once
in while and mine is like new it don't slip or anything
Bob Kontak: Thanks for the video. I used it to fix my 98.
However, the band "lash" you show of about 1/2 inch looks about right. The
other end of the lever is where the approximate 1/8" band adjustment is -
where the screw and lock nut are.
MudBogginRatRoddin: My truck when you get off the gas or stop then it just revs and doesnt want
to go again, whats your thoughts????
Noelio Herrera: I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 5.2 V8 4X2 and it doesn't go back into first
gear when I come to a complete stop, (This only happens after warming up
and driving for a little) I changed the governor pressure sensor,
transducer, transmission filter and fluid and the problem still happens. I
have to shift the gear manually into 1st for me to give the truck power to
move because it's like driving a manual transmission but starting in 2nd,
RPM's go up and truck moves but very slowly. If I leave it in D and floor
it, it jumps into first and tires spin a little before I get traction.
Could it be the entire transmission going?
Levi Lewis: about how long did the whole process take you if you dont mind me asking
Verne Leeper: On my 99 it has hesitation from 2nd to 3rd gear... I thought this might be
a speed sensor on the trans.. But I replaced those less than a yr ago.. One
on rear dif and one on trans.. Should I just go ahead and replace these
Allen Young: Hi, it's been 2 years now how is the transmission shifting now on 1998
Lud Wig: I have a 2006 Ram 1500, that is not shifting most of the time. I cannot
tell what gear it is in when starting out but it is not 1st and maybe not
second. I dont feel it shift up lately and rpm is too high 3 -3.5, but runs
good really. I get the P 0700 error which points too general TCM issue,
but on this model the TCM is intergrated in the main computer, so I am
debating to get it scanned for specific problem, IF a scan tool can even
get more specific. What do u think?
Fluid is ok. I will try some lucus just to clean filter, maybe it is
gunked up, but other than changing the solenoids, do you think the TCM
portion could be a culprit, as I seen it on earlier older trucks? Do
you know if the '06 has the same solenoid set up as your video? Did your
job also include a tranny kit (filters, ?)? Thanks!
