Dawn Burton: Thank you for the video! Question: I have a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac and I recently replaced my door lock actuator for the 2nd time in the past year. I can lock all of my doors, but I cannot unlock my drivers door from the key fab, the interior lock switch, the key, or the keypad. I have to enter through another door, climb over the seat and use the inside door handle to open the drivers door. Someone mentioned online that they were missing the spring that goes from the lock inside the panel to the lever. I can't find anywhere online that shows the spring and where it goes/part no. Do you know if there is supposed to be a spring or why this may be happening? Perhaps you have the part I need? Thanks in advance! :)

fsfazekas: Is there any chance you could do a video showing how to replace the actual latch that you loosened by removing the three screws? I have to replace mine in the driver's door of an '01 explorer and I can't figure out detach any of the rods that are hooked into it. I could probably remove the actuator linkage after watching this video but there's no way to remove the lock knob rod, the link to the door lock cylinder, etc. The bends are too tight and the amount of rod that passes through the attachment point(s) is far too much to get them out. The must be a trick to removing the rods from the latch but I haven't been able to find a video of it anywhere. Thanks!

SilkySlim: I just opened the bracket that holds the actuator a little with a screwdriver and pulled it out and wiggled it out at the hook,..and it was out,..without taking all those guts out (tracks and things),..unplugged it,..and now just have to put new one in !!!

steve rice: I just replaced the Lock Actuator on the Left front passenger door on my 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. Great video, but on my truck I didn't have to remove the 3 screws on the lock mechanism. I just pulled the bottom of the actuator up towards the window and the hook came out of the lock mechanism, real easy and saved a step. Easy to install the new actuator as well. Thanks, keep the DIY repairs coming. Always learn a new repair on YouTube.

Brenna Berkner: So my 01 explorer driver's side door has a floppy handle and it locks, but doesn't unlock unless you open it from inside. It's like it doesn't get pushed up all the way when I hit the button or turn the key. Also, my passenger door won't lock at all, but I can still hear something working when I push the button. Is this what I need for both? Really don't want to take it to a shop.

T Slice: Worked perfectly on my 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac and I also did not have to remove the door latch. For the rivet i knocked out, I just replaced it with a bolt and nut. Took me about an hour.

Justin: Yeah try replacing this crap on a 2001 Ford Expedition driver's side passenger door. There is like no room to do anything. The rod for the actuator is bent in a hook in such a way it is almost impossible to get out. I bought my vehicle just the other day. Apparently the pop rivet had broken off and the actuator was just jumping around inside the door causing the casing to break. I had to take the latch away from the door. The motor housing just pulled away from the rod. I use to have a 98 Grand Marquis and I had a door left over that I took the actuator from it. Even that was a pain in the ass. The rod for the Expedition was shorter. So I separated the casing on the new actuator and slid the old rod down inside it. It had a rail on it. Then I sealed the case back up. I just took the rod and bent it at a 90 degree angle and slid it back in.. Finally got everything back together. Took a couple hours to do in humid conditions in the South with mosquitoes did not make it easy. I do not see how anyone can replace these. I do not see any vids anywhere for the rear doors. They have much smaller openings. Now I have used 1A Auto's vids before on the Marquis and they were great.

Reginald Burrell: The driver's door on my 98 Explorer won't lock at all automatically or manually with the key. Is it because of the Actuator?
