Cinthya P: I need the instructions for a F. ESCAPE 2001. Thanks for the support!
Steven Smith: First, thanks SO MUCH to 1AAUTO for the great parts and videos to help out we DIY'ers. My power driver's window regulator repair wouldn't have been possible without them.
So now...my key won't reliably unlock the driver's door, nor will the FOB. I should add this has been going on intermittently for several years but is now getting much worse. The door unlocks maybe 1 in 50 attempts (yes...I'm the goofball standing in the parking lot clicking my FOB over and over and turning the key in the lock...for 10 minutes).
The FOB and key do unlock and lock all other doors just fine. It's only the driver's door that will not unlock reliably.
I've lubricated all door locks and internal, mechanical components, even got the child safety locks on the rear doors to work properly again. But the driver's door lock is still a bugger.
I checked for the frayed/broken/shorted wire in the driver's door wiring harness/cannon and all looks good there.
Based on what I'm reading, this sounds like a power door lock actuator but would like some input before buying the part and attempting the repair.
Thanks to all, especially 1AAUTO!
Andy B: hi, 1st well done video, I have a question, I have a 04 Lincoln LS and im having problems with the driver door, the door close well but the lock doesn't work, what that can be? and if you are selling that part in your website.....thx.....
Big John: Got my new part, installed it in about 45 min. had my shop give me an quote, he wanted $187 parts & labor. Yeah right, the part was only $38 shipped to my door in 2 days, I saved $150 and the 1A Auto instructions were dead on. Thank you for all your help. Bigjohn
scsammy: Great video! Bought a new lock actuator for my 2000 Explorer from 1AAuto and installed it today. Thanks to the video it took less than an hour.
troy boehm: Do u have a video on replacing the door latch assembly on2000 explorer? mine wont unlatch very good but will open good from outside
1A Auto Parts: @Matt Freda Thank you for watching. Unfortunately we do not have a video for your application. We will keep this repair in mind for future videos. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Matt Freda: I have what I believe is a driver side door airbag, it's an Eddie Bauer edition...how should I go about working around this?
Joe blow goes: Will this fix my door problem? My door doesn't stay close. It doesn't latch on to the body of the car. Both of the door handles work, but when i try to close the door it just bounces back.
UFOGHOSTHUNTER: I had the same problem with my truck and I got in the panel and found out my rod that goes to my lock cylinder was unhooked and causing it to not lock all the way down. Make sure everything is in its place and check the rivet on the actuator to see if its still holding strong.
1A Auto Parts: You may want to see if a rod or cable has become undone from the handle inside of the door. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
1A Auto Parts: If there's a way to spray some WD-40 on the inside of that latch, that might help to free it up for you, so that you can pull the rod from the inside of the door and pop it open. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Erin Smith: I'm not sure what is wrong with my door because in a sense, it "half locks." I have a 97 ford explorer xlt & the door will not open whatsoever. I have the panel off even though it is shut, and I've tried pulling the "bar" that opens/unlatches the door from the locking mechanism and it still continues to stay shut. What would you recommend to do to get it open?
1A Auto Parts: It could be a door lock actuator getting weak. Try to lock it using the key and see if it locks. We carry new door lock actuators on our website 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Steve Cottone: These videos are why I will purchase my parts through you. Please continue to do these videos and save us from the stealerships. Great work guys! We really appreciate you.
Oh Yeah: Thanks!
1A Auto Parts: You may want to check the wire harness between the door and body of the car for a broken or frayed wire. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
Oh Yeah: I have a 2000 Lincoln Ls. My driver side rear passenger door lock is intermittently not responding to keyless remote. It will lock and unlock manually. Also, if I bump the handle it may work. All other doors working flawlessly by remote. What could my problem be, thanks.
1A Auto Parts: You should match up the one that best fits your application. 1aauto.com 888-844-3393
derek7887: I just bought a replacement actuator. There are multiple copper/gold hooks that came with it. Am I just supposed to use the one like you used with both O rings and all the other ones are useless?
