Chris Henson: hey i changed my ujoints in a 1999 silverado 4x4 standerd cab short bed 1
piece drive shaft i had a sqeek and a minor vibration at around 60 i have
new tires on it with less than 10k miles after changing the 2 ujoints the
vibration changed to a 50mph to 65ish mph at 70 it dose bot really vibrate
it dose vibrate in nutral if i get to speed then coast back down new wheel
bearings 5k miles ago new rotors all the way around at same time the wheel
hub bearings were done im wondering if i didnt put my yoke on the wrong end
as i have done this repair many times and had never had any trouble not
marking my drive shaft any ideas
Carl Zorro: I had my transfer case and rear differential worked on, took it back 2
times and now I get a rough humming sound, thinking it could be from wheel
alignment and knowing I had a tie rod going I changed all hub
bearings,complete tie rods,rotors and pads. Coming back from alignment I
get smoke coming out from the passenger side but not from brakes. This
humming sounded beside a whining like when is the power steering pump but
it's not, can it be from the transfer case, already been back to the shop
Brittney Kuljis: OK I just rebilt a 213 transfercase it is in a 1995 Dodge Dakota. The
problem is it seems to be stuck in 4 wheel drive. Do you have any idea what
would cause this to happen

driven transfer cases to smithereens. (check out the vid on my channel if
you don't believe me)

kenman1717: I'm a mechanic and worked at a chevy dealer for a long time, fixed lots of
these, replaced a lot of transfer cases because it was to late, but if we
caught it early, just the rear case half could be replaced as well as the
update, that little anti rattle clip on the case is removed and a new wide
one that fit over the pump and wrapped around that edge, problem fixed, no
need to get that aftermarket pump, with that block at the end, because
basically the updated piece from GM becomes that block.
boinkburger: Not sure if this applies to the problem I am having or if it's the shift
actuator. But I have a 2003 Sierra 1500. When I start out in 2WD, I hear a
distinct clicking sound from the transfer case and it feels way under
powered. But once I get to 10 mph or so it goes away and drives fine. It
feels as if the truck is having problems deciding to be in 2WD or 4WD. Any
kirk dustin: My 1977 Chevy C 30 Deluxe 1ton flatbed has new clutch, universal, brakes,
just completely tuned-up & has run great since 350 rebuild was installed 10
years back. It has hauled TONS of roofing materials & firewood successfully
as we also beefed up the leafs. In the last 90 days or so the truck has
been doing this weird "grabbing & popping" making it difficult to pull away
from traffic signals, etc. even when not loaded. So after bringing in a
load of Oak firewood late yesterday, when we unloaded and tried to move
forward, it would NOT budge. Acts like maybe rear end is locked up or
something. What do ya'll think please?
Anthony Cinquegrana: I think I have this problem with my truck.. I have an 04 sierra. When I
stop and then take off there is a bang from first to second. I can also
feel the bang when it shifts down. I diagnosed the sound coming from the
case.. maybe the chain Is stretched? It "seems" loose, not sure.
Tommy Bowen: Does the front shaft turn when you turn rear shaft even if it's not lock in
four wheel drive? Some people say it does and some say it's not working
properly! This is in a 1999 chevy

Escalade uses pretty much the same GM parts as a tahoe.. I want to make
sure before I do any unnecessary work

imthenoid69: happened to my 02 silverado twice. the first time, the dealership "fixed"
the problem with the same setup for $1700. the 2nd time i took to local 4wd
shop and they fixed it correctly for $950. both times had to replace the
half case. dealership is scum. should be a recall
takeadayofff: Good info, I didn't know about this problem with aluminum NPs. Still, the
better fix is to upgrade to a full-time cast-iron t-case :-)

the rear with an open diff. up front.

Gary Seymour: Great video, however nobody has any videos on a complete disassembly and
reassembly of GM 246 transfer case nor can I find any manuals on this type
of transfer case. I can only find partial disassembly video's on any
transfer cases. Sure would great for somebody to make a video on a complete
disassembly and reassembly of a GM NP246 transfer case for us guys who
don't do this for a living.

mechanic and open it i found sun gear worn out so. the replace sun
gear,planetry, and shift fork. and the problem now at i shift to AWD. if
pull turn the steering lift or rigth the vech, not move.

problem. Very frustrating that there isn't a recall on this problem.
