2000 Dodge Ram 1500 Converting 5.2 To A 5.9 Magnum

What do you think about this video?

Johnny martinez: If I do this can I use the same wire harness and just change the computer and do I have to get a different starter???

wessendorf15: i have a 97 with a 5.2 and want to switch to a 5.9 but i have a nv 3500 5 speed stick shift. i wonder if it would match to?

Ryan Clevenger: Question: did the transmissions match? or did you swap those too. Im doing something similar but backwards. The truck Im getting is a 2000 Dodge Ram Quadcab 4x4 5.9L 4spd auto and it threw a rod, the engine I have readily available is from a 99 dodge ram 1500 5.2l RWD, I know that the blocks match up the mounts, but didn't know all the details about your transmission swap, or if it will work

TOXIXIFY: How did you port the throttle body? Is there any way to do it without a mill? THANKS!

stephshane1: The 5.2 will last alot longer stock

Anthony Cole: Dude freaking nice!

DINPAK LLC: Did you ever do a video after the swap? Looking for the after party.....

cybillify bla: i want to chip my 5.9 360, what will i need to do? or can i just put a chip in?

fathergratwick: 360 does outperform the 318..the 318 is like the chevy 327 with a cult following of it own... 318 had a slightly higher compression ratio to try and keep up the 360 gets better mpg for the added cubic inches...there is no replacement for displacement... the jet chip doesnt do much after 200 miles when the pcm relearns and corrects the setting to override all of its changes...

trat50: Did you have to change the factory engine computer?

crazywarriorman: @gohomeimigrants Buy a chevy ha ha

Moparman58: i knew that would work but i dont know what the point is on swapping engines, the 360 doesnt have that much more power and you get the power from a 318, but nice work, looks nice

jeosua beltran: jet chips are garbage get an sct tuner

Jason Geminiani: i replaced the 5.2 with a 5.9 torque converter just to be on the safe side but it will work with a 5.2 but might cause a vibration

Klayton Procter: im changin my 3.9 v6 to to a 5.9 too hope it bolts in i know i need to change comp anything you know?

Jason Geminiani: yes i know from the the reserch i did before i did this but the only thing i had truoble with is how do u know where to put the weight on the torque converter because the fly wheel lines up in 4 diferent ways. the fly wheel and balancers are defently different then the 5.2 other than that she runs alot better then the old 5.2

Ben Benjamin: One thing you might want to know about the small block mopars ... the 5.9 is externally balanced and the 5.2 is internally balanced. The harmonic balancer on the 5.9 is part of the balancing, but you will need the weighted torque converter or flexplate to maintain proper balancing. FYI
