Henry J Anderson II: Although I probably speak for most of us IT Consultants of 20 years or more experience out here, but all the same, we can appreciate your efforts in trying to give others correct instructions on how to upgrade their devices and what not. This however is something you should not do. Here's why...
1. You shrank your volume on your PC, not your tablet.
2. Your tablet came with Windows Preinstalled (version 7 or 8, doesn't matter)
3. You happen to have a "Windows" tablet that has a totally different bios than that of an Android Tablet
4. You have just enough knowledge to be dangerous.
Please, do the rest of us a favor, if you're going to produce a video like this, make sure the video is clear, instructions are clear as well (in other words, type them on the screen here), and finally, make sure that you really know what you're talking about when clearly in this case you do not.
Want proof? Ok, first off, all windows tablets come preinstalled with all the touch screen drivers installed for use in their recovery partitions. These drivers are NOT available on the Windows 8 and 8.1 ISO's, they are only available by the OEMs of the tablets. So, once you travel down the road to install, you've already made a critical error and bricked the tablet.
Second, Allocating hard drive space isn't necessary, in fact it's recommended that you do a clean install for any type of upgrade.
I don't understand why the majority of these kids try to make one OS run on a platform it obviously was not designed for. You're taking a 400.00 tablet (Android, iPad, or otherwise) and you all think that you can install whatever OS on it you want. This is NOT the case. Each tablet/phone is designed to run a specific OS, for a reason. It has to do with the hardware makeup, it's not simply a matter of you saying, "Well I hate Android, so let me go get a cheap 200.00 tablet and install windows on it, when it's running Android". This isn't the way these devices work. Look, if you want to do testing, take it from an expert, use an old PC or old Laptop, read Google on how to create Virtual Machines, and have a blast (Put Ubuntu on your machine and run VirtualBox... totally free). Then have fun and not destroy your precious 400.00 Windows tablet with half correct installation instructions.
On the plus side, I will give you props for trying...unfortunately as I said, what you did will fail if you do not have a Windows based tablet.
Henry J Anderson II: Dude, only works if you have a Windows Tablet that has a USB interface (in other words, it already came with Windows, so why in the world would you want to show us how to install Windows to a Windows tablet). Secondly, The Drive Manager you showed us was on your PC, not your tablet. Again, your missing out steps on how to do this correctly. I'm curious how many people bricked their tablets trying this out.
Piny Woofensnabber: How do I upgrade from the Surface RT?
Kotsios Nicolaou: can i do this in my surface rt?
Indranil Dey: can i apply same on notion link cain tablet?
Anthony Tippett (StrykerOmega): How would I do this with an Insignia Flex 10.1? I do not have the windows button like the samsung tablets do..
Holiday: We don\t make alot, but our group do get to travel frequently. Just this year we went to Bangkok to get pictures and their holiday schedules. We are still in a growing phrase so best we can aim for is break even. I think everyone have to overcome the same type of challenge when starting something new. Don\t give up!
